700 AD

Postby dominationnation on Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:51 pm

I have an idea for a great new build-up map
700AD

It will be featuring Asia, Europe, and some of northern Africa. It will have all of the kingdoms that were at war at that time in history. At that point, the barbarians, Vikings, Monguls, Japenese, Arab, and several other empires were all getting their start and going to war. Each player will start on one territory where the leader/start of that empire was (gengis khan of the monguls, Scandinavia for the vinkings etc.) Each kingdom will have different strengths and weakness based on what they actually were. (the ones that invented bows+arrows will be able to bombard when on their turf, the ones with horses can attack up to 2 or 3 territorys away on their turf etc.)

Their are a few differences between this and the other buildups already quenched. First, this is based off something real and I feel that this gives it more appeal. second, im not trying to make it so that the starting points are so equal. It will be fair, but the gameplay on the area of the different castles will be totally different.

I hope that someone more talented in graphics and map makng sees the genuis behind this idea.

i didnt put it in there for a few reasons. A) only a few people actualy look in there and i really want to get this around.
B) The mods have been leaning towards letting all ideas have their own threads and locking the ones that dont take off/merging them into that thread later

i really like the idea of different regions having different attack options.
very, very cool.
that would really distinguish it from current maps.

I'd like it but with our new start positions code and the new territory bonus adjustment code there is no reason you couldn't let people have the whole countries at the start and set their army numbers up so that everyone is even.

Thats a good idea. I forgot about that. Its cool. I wish we could make it so that if you own the main land then all of the territories you own can attack two territories away or all your territories can bombard. Stuff like that. That way its like the men carry the horse and bows not the territories.

I see where you are going...but mabey more of a san fran style. The canada style didnt seem to pass well with the public.

Not exactly true... that was really because people wanted to keep the old canada map. Regardless of the revamp image, many still wouldn't like it.
