If its a historical map i dont think the copyright will apply. The copyright will be for that paticular image which will only be used as a template.

as for playability. it looks promising but its much like the europe map. it will need to be made very diffirent.

It's rather similar to several maps in development that are about empires that spanned to the Mediterranean.

Yeah, it's not really similar to the Europe map, but it looks a lot like the Rome map that's currently being made (it's at least of the same area).

i have no clue what years this is for i just grabbed it off google images

as for the playability i have a few ideas
1. the whole sea will be playable here not just the islands
2.You will only be able to attack sea territories from territories with harbors and vice versa or thats what i was thinking

Nice idea but:
1) It is kind of similar to the Europe map
2) It is almost identical to the Roman Empire map (in development) except with a few different countries stuck in.

This does cover some of the same geography as other maps, but I don't think that means it doesn't have a place, especially as you mention concentrating on the seas. I think it's a good idea. I like the way the seas are broken down into sub-territories.

In order to highlight the naval aspect, I think some sea-specific gameplay would be good. Two thoughts for this:

Fast Seas Set it up so that sea spaces share borders with each adjacent space and each space adjacent to an adjacent sea (i.e. on this map, Punic Sea could attack Leptis and Ligurian Sea, but not Massilia).

Productive Seas Give each sea a territory bonus that auto-deploys on itself.

This map is under copyright since it a map for Diplomacy, the board game.

Fast Seas
Each sea space could attack its neighbors, as normal.
Any sea space that is adjacent to another sea space can attack any of that sea space's neighbors.

Example:
Sea-A next to: Land-A, Sea-B
Sea-B next to: Sea-A, Land-B
Land-A next to: Sea-A, Land-C

Sea-A can attack neighbors: Land-A and Sea-B.
Can also attack Sea-B neighbors: Land-B
Can not attack Land-A neighbors: NOT Land-C

On your map, Iberian Sea (#66) (left edge) could attack:
Neighbors: Mauret (#2), Sag (#65), Berber Sea (#67)
Neighbors of Berber Sea: Baleares (#68), Punic Sea (#72), Ligurian Sea (#69), Carthage (#10), Sardinia (#71)

You could give it a shot.. Can't use this map of layout, exactly.. but something along these lines.. and it'll need something to make it stand out..
I don't personally like the inclusion of seas as territories most of the time, but thats just me.
Maybe you could avoid the traditional bonus system in which you receive bonuses based on holding specified areas but instead use other factors.

Definitely not a fantasy map... it looks like it has actual ancient regions (for example, correct me if I'm wrong, France was once known as Gaul).

Not only does it say copyright on it, but it's also from a warfare type game as well. Someone said earlier it's a map from Diplomacy. You probably can't use this image at all.

I don't think what you have looks that great anyway, but I do realize you are going to put more work into it. We already have quite a few maps for this region, and I don't feel there's need for another one, but if you are going to do it start from scratch and make it all yourself.

To be honest, unless you get something that looks very good is unique, you're not going to get support on this. But, do yourself a favour and make it all your own, not an edit of someone else's material.
