use the search function or look in the developmental atlas. it's been tried before.

PS: and for the future if you just want to share your ideas use the ideas thread. it's nothing personal but it's already a mess in here. let's try to keep things as organized as possible.

cheers.

City Park - Underway...seeking approval for graphics

Postby cairnswk on Sun May 06, 2007 10:41 pm

AndyDufresne wrote:The idea mentioned above is an interesting twist on RISK. **Smacks Jota with a trout for being creative** ;-).

I think this map could be rather enjoyable, though like Jota said it would benefit greatly from appealing graphics, perhaps even more so than the usual map. This kind of idea brings me back to the days when my friends I and would play 'Guns' and 'War' at elementary school during our daily breaks. It surely would be worth a shot, though I wouldn't model the park after an specific one (or at least widely known specific one). It's an intriguing idea, and I like. One problem I would forsee would be making the map too 'kiddy'. But with proper care and focus I think it could be come a well loved niche map, if ever made.

Andy & Jota...its been started, but I want to know if the graphics are appealing before it goes live for Development? Please!

Rail USA

Postby cairnswk on Mon May 07, 2007 4:29 am

Anyone interested in trains....Rail USA or Rail Europe, Rail Asia etc.
Attacking from station to station and terminals with multiple lines like Chicago Union with 8 terminating lines.
Perhaps something like Union Pacific but not exactly that to avoid copyright.
Let me know!

I don't have any map designing skills myself, but it would be a fun map. If someones already suggested it, I second the notion.

~Kew Gardens
~Cleopatra's Needle
~Canary Wharf
plus loads more

River Crossings - as territories
~Thames Barrier
~Dartford Tunnel
~Tower Bridge
~Ferry

Attack lines
~London Underground (circle line, bakerloo line, piccadilly line)
~Heathrow
~Gatwick
~Docklands Light Railway

Impassable barriers
~River Thames

Really hope someone takes it on. with or without my ideas.

I posted this as a separate thread, but since i can't design maps at all i decided to just post it in the ideas.

Image

The number of countries and continent can still vary. If anyone made this map you obviously don't even have to follow the guidelines of the "map" i made... i only made that as an illustration.

This is how i envision the map. Each continent, which would produce the bonus armies, is a genre of rock music. For example the continent "Classic rock" in which will be the territories "Led Zeppelin", "The Beatles", "The Doors". Another continent, perhaps, 80's metal (containing countries which are named after 80s metal bands). And then of course the continent of "Modern rock" which will probably consist of the most territories and be the most difficult to hold. and yeah more continents than that... and please don't include sucky rock bands... make them bands that have made an impact on their genre/industry.

Please help me out i think this map could be really cool if someone knew how to make it

I think the lost city of atlantis would be pretty sweet. you would have to be pretty creative to think of the stuff to put in it though. like poseidon's castle or something. that's my only good idea.

The lost city of Atlantis is definitely sticking out like a sore thumb when it comes to map ideas. What does everyone else think?

Sure, I like the concept. I'd have to see at least a preliminary map before I decide if I'd want to play it.

has anyone here ever played the mmo EVE online?

i was thinking the EVE map itself would make a great RISK map, but there are far too many regions in the mmo to fit in a game like this. regions will have to be grouped together in order to fit
