Suggestion in regards to Secret Diplomacy/ Cheats

Suggestion in regards to having suspicions that a player is conducting secret diplomacy or is a multi etc

I would suggest that the war on cheats and multis could be more effective if players did not have to make a public declaration of accounts they suspect are cheating in some form, and could perhaps lodge a non public heads up to the mods who would then run their unbiased investigations and make a ruling one way or the other without the need to trash someones reputation on the "cheats" forum unnecesarily. I think more players would feel comfortable being able to make an anonymous enquiry about suspicious activities without causing contentions between their fellow cc members. I would suspect that a lot of players let secret diplomacy and multi account concerns pass over to avoid the unnecesary drama of having to call someone out publically and make an enemy over something that may or may not be fact, it is so incredibly difficult to prove anyway that I personally do suspect some diplomacys in a few of my games now and then but without absolutely knowing Id never even mention it as i dont want anyones name in the "cheats" forum just on my own suspicion. I feel more players would come forward if we were allowed to put in something more of an enquiry and have it professionally evaluated by an unbiased other without the hoo ha of "I accuse so and so of being a cheater" - and the adverserial affects that come with such public declarations. Most players are such lovely people they wouldnt report suspicious account activities they have noticed because they dont wish to rock the boat. The non public tip off would eliminate this entirely. If the suspect player is given the all clear they need never know there was an investigation and no harm done. Hopefully the result would be more ppl would speak up & less cheats lurking on cc :)

This is always possible via an e-ticket in the Help menu. However, having a public thread can be especially helpful in secret diplomacy accusations. Many times it is hard to convict players based on one incident, so if other players see the accusation and recall having a suspicious feeling about the accused in a previous game, they're able to share that information with the Hunters.

I think the main reason Ponygal brings this up is because quite a few members don't know what an E-ticket is, or how to fill one out if they are told about them.

I forwarded this to the Multi hunters to see what they think, or if you want it to remain private, to deal with it via E-tickets

There are pro's and con's to this suggestion.

Yes maybe more possible cheaters would be reported and get caught. Right now we get SD complaints that have no evidence at all, just because one player is the strongest and the attacks are going against him. By encouraging behind the scenes complaints I think there would be a lot more complaints that have no basis at all with the complainer knowing that there is nothing to worry about.

Right now we get a lot of reports that have no evidence being reported in the C&A forum. I think by asking people to make their complaint in public cuts down on the frivolous complaints. Again it goes to if nobody knows I am complaining and they don't agree with someone's strategy they file a complaint.

I think if people really think someone is cheating they shouldn't feel afraid to report it in the open forums. They should provide some evidence on why they think it is cheating.

I also think the accused has the right to know that some one is accusing them.

There is always the option of the e-ticket but I think the C&A forum is the best approach.

It's true if it were not public there would possibly be many more frivolous accusations. The other side of the coin is the vindictive nature that comes out in some when they know who has accused them. Also, if the person is found to be not cheating they never have to know someone mistakenly thought they were cheating and no feelings will be hurt. Alternatively, if they are found to be cheating, who cares if they know who reported them? Public investigations definitely have many downsides.
