New Setting: Domination victory

Postby OliverFA on Sat Aug 31, 2013 10:45 am

Concise description:
If at the begining of a player turn, that player has 67% of territories, 67% of armies and 67% of income, then the game is won by Domination.

If that's too low, make it 75% or 80%

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
It will avoid boring and tedious endgames, when its clear who has won yet the game must continue.

It will make for a more climatic end game.
Welcoming the long awaited Trench Warfare Setting (Previously Adjacent Attacks).

My Maps:
Research and Conquer - Civilization meets Conquer Club

Best score: 2,346 - Best position: #618 - Best percentile: 4.87%

Games can be won with a comeback from just 1 territory.

I have done so on Realms 2, Speed, No fog.

not sure how many were in the game but at the time of almost elimination there were 3 of us. 10,000+ games and i still remember that comeback.

btw, it's a no from me.

I don't question games can be won with a comeback from just 1 territory. But, which is the percentage of games lost by a player who was the leader with the conditions I marked? I would be surprised if that was higher than 10%

As an option, would eliminate boredom from ending part of games, and contribute keeping players engaged in the site.

Plus, you are talking about a completely different thing. I talk about leading player. I don't say anything about the rest of players.

i just don't see it adding enough of a difference to what we have to warrant its development.

it will split players between similar settings making games slower to fill. your attempt to improve the situation for some will end up lessening the enjoyment for all.

This would suck in a escu game for a player that is about to cash a big one....

Yep. I've won plenty of escalating games where I only had a few territories left but a nice stack and a cash. A definite no from me.

I do think it could be interesting for trench games though. So many are just endless.
As we can t have a resign button and for me the main issue is on trench games, i think this isn t a bad idea for certain settings. It shouldn t be applied in no trench escalating though, ever!
