Re: Nuclear

Yes, that is a common strategy that I have since employed. You can meet with a couple of glitches when using it, though. Eventually, you'll want your troops in a key location for attacking opponents, if you gain the upper hand. Either you're moving them to a spot that is in danger of being taken out ...

Re: Nuclear

Haven't played it much, but large stacks are pretty much a no-go. Nuclear is a good choice for people who like the game to keep moving without the irritation of sweeping victories that so often happen in escalating. You can't just stack troops, so for the most part, I would play it pretty straight ...

Re: loosing player large stacks...?

Wear down slowly over time, if you are that concerned about it. When you are losing, stacking is usually the best option, because no one wants to waste their troops on taking out an inconsequential territory, so you wait until an opportunity arises to take a better foothold in the game. To combat ...

Re: Wich type of Conquer Club game takes the most skill to w

I tried reading most of the posts here, but I couldn't justify spending all that time, so I will just lay out my thoughts on here, at the risk of repeating several other dozens of posters:

I believe what takes the most skill is 5-8 player, sequential, no spoils/flat rate, no fog, adjacent ...

Re: Hard diplomacy

I don't think it is a good strategy to use such diplomacy (at least most of the time). I've seen people to it several times, with the result that they get attacked because they're pissing someone off. At the very least, even if it succeeds, it can plant the seeds for later resentment and annoyance ...

Re: I suck

Not a lot of people have mentioned how to play the map you mentioned (most just urged you to play different maps), but I really like World 2.1. In an 8-player map, it is important, as some people have said, to gain a small bonus.

Here's what I've noticed a lot of inexperienced players doing that I ...

Re: breaking a truce

I'm not a fan of truces, but wouldn't rate poorly against it (I'm in the minority there I believe)...it is a part of the game, just a part that most players don't care for.

I say if you want to delve into truces and such why not just play doubles or triples where the truces are clear from the ...

Re: breaking a truce

I wanted to say a few more things about truces:

I think there's a disconnect between what people are saying in their heads, what they write on the chat, and what other players read in their heads.

I really think people take things too personally, and I think they take certain statements to mean ...

Re: breaking a truce

break it at will. A truce is good only as long as it benefits both players.

I agree with this. I personally think that cooperation with other players is often a necessary part of winning a game. If you're playing with other people who have an instinctive understanding of board dynamic, then you ...

Re: Playing the Players

So, a related question.

In a couple of games, I've noticed that talking and trying to maneuver through a game tends to piss a couple of people off. I guess sweet-talking has its merits, but I want to hear people's perspective on a couple of questions:

(1) How do you tell someone to stop attacking ...

Re: Playing the Players

One example of playing the board by seeing what kind of player each of my opponents was:

I recently played an 8 person World 2.1 Singles game. I started in Europe as the pink player. The Green player started in Parana and South Africa. The Blue player built up really strong in the Middle East and ...

Re: Playing the Players

That's really interesting. That's partly why I don't play fog of war games that much. When I do, I get pretty frustrated, because people tend to say whatever they want, and other players have no idea what to believe. When there's no fog, it's all out there for everyone to see. But I did play a fog ...

Playing the Players

I haven't been able to find suitable discussion on this topic, and yet this is the main reason I like to play this game. I will play several different kinds of games, but to give you some context, I prefer NO SPOILS, NO FOG-OF-WAR, STANDARD games. The reason is that one of the biggest parts of ...

Re: Anyone else hate when people use the stockpiling strateg

The only plan that I can fathom in this case is that one player will eventually lose patience and leave himself or herself vulnerable- which again isn't really due to skill or strategy but reptilian patience. As far as I'm concerned, I may as well go join a staring contest

You don't think ...

Re: Strategy vs Luck

I think there have been many valid points made, but there are also many factors that haven't been addressed at all.

In a singles game especially, there is a heavy amount of luck in who your opponents are and what their agendas happen to be. I'm sure you can all recount a myriad of times when a ...
