I know this is thread necromancy, but I just wanted to express my great sadness regarding the legal obstructions that have stopped development on this map. I suppose no further contact has been received from the copyright holder?

why can't you change it around a lil bit so it doesn't infringe on copy write

Because the "you" (I.E. the cartographer") has been inactive for about half a year.

If I remember correctly, this was in Final Forge, so I think those would be the only things left to do.

Go Widow - I suggest that once you've done that - you then submit the map back to London Underground again to check that they're happy you've no longer infringed their copyright...

Alternatively - you could ask for them to give the copyright as this is effectively free advertising - to X people - but change "going underground" - and then see if they go for it?!

I agree that the map should be resubmitted to Transport For London - they're pretty tight about enforcing their copyright, and I think that the schematic layout of the map itself protected.

Here is the response to what is copyrighted. SO I will.............
1)switch around the colors and the graphical locations of the tube lines and stations. The gameplay will remain the same as what has been developed so far but graphically modified enough to not infringe on copyrights.

2)I was planning on changing the logo to a bar with a big U. U for underground. So it would still be similar but not infringe on the current logos copyright.

3) Going underground would be replaced with London Underground. Very Close but still different.

Sound good?

PS - Actually number 2 - they're saying that they don't want you to change it - if you make sure it's reproduced exactly they might go for that too.

That is why I am altering the look of the schematic. it will be closely based on the original (same territories and links) but different colors and the lines will be adjusted slightly.

As far as the logo, I am taking out the "O" and replacing it with a "U".

I am going to call the map London Underground.

OK here it is. As you can see I needed to make some changes to allow the 88's to fit. The old map (fluffybunnykins map) was only the large version and it would have not worked even if there were not copyright issues.

So I kept the gameplay the same and moved around lines and stations to make sure it would all fit.

I redid the logo and changed the colors. I know the colors are bad but I just wanted to get something up.

SO this looks like the old map in style but is not a copy of the original artist work but maintains gameplay.

well people are gonna be very confused with this one! looks good to me though.

1. you might want to make it a bit more clear that stations at interchanges like King's Cross are ALL connected to each other maybe just include the word ALL

2. I would recommend adding arrows to show that the circle line is one way

Actually I think the station are only connected by teh white lines. I will add that text and the arrows as well.

At kings cross:
1) Victoria rail station can attack Piccadilly
2) Piccadilly can attack both Victoria and Northern
3) Northern can attack both Piccadilly and Circle
4) Circle can attack Northern

Plus each station can attack along it os one line as well.

It does not work like Rail USA.
