ice elementals cast 4 frostbite on non important territories and get +4 for holding--- it? I'm assuming its the realm, but could you be a bit more specific? I love the fact that now, its a bit more focused on war between empires, not building one.

the legend will be redone to express things more clear. i just haven't had time to do it yet. probably today when i wake up.

done
- reworded parts of the legend and added various missing explanations (like the blood water bonus)
- got bored and animated the legend
edit// photobucket is down for maintenance so i'll upload the image later.
since photobucket is still down and i have to leave for work, here's the image uploaded on imageshack:

Love the original two, but this one has me wondering. I don't like all the different colors and graphics at all. I can understand wanting to do fancy graphics, but it takes a lot of programming to do even simple movements and such correctly. Better a good simplicity than a complicated failure.
The bonuses definitely give me pause. It might work. The original Might was certainly a departure. It will take play to really see if this works, but offhand, it seems that having such differently structured bonuses will lead to instant advantages for some, to automatic uneven play. I am not sure it will work.
I won't comment on overall clarity of the bonuses, legend, since you have indicated you will be fixing this. I DO suggest you run it by a neophyte who has never seen the map before deciding it is clear, however. It is easy to get caught up in the design and think things are very understandable, when they aren't to an outsider. I refuse to play a couple of maps for this very reason. They are nice maps, but if the make cannot bother to explain them better, then I cannot be bothered to play...
Regardless, thanks for your time and effort in creating this.

any map is an uncertainty until the first games are played on it, especially when we're dealing with a non standard gameplay. so yes the bonuses might work or might not. i think they will but anyway it takes just a few minutes to change the xml and the image if something is wrong it's been done in the past and it will be done in the future.
as for the programming bit i have no idea what you mean. what programming?

we do. the blood waters can be attacked one way from any dock. that means they can't attack back at docks. that's why the sanctuary needs a dock to get out and explore.

I dont think the amination is staying hecgtor . . .
the animation was just for fun. it looks cool but after looking at it for too long people might get a seizure, plus it is making the file too big and at the same time it lowers the quality of the image because gifs have just 256 colours.

if i could make animations at a higher quality and at a lower size it would probably stay.

glad you like it. it's always nice to hear words of appreciation
It just struck me, but looking at your sig...did you make the first 2 as well (Might and Magic) ? If so, I love ya man. I've got 46 active games and about 75% are Might...now that I've got the hang of that map, I've got about 10% as Magic in my active list...that one still giving me pause but I'm catching on. A+ work

dim none of ur maps make any sense the territorys the idea that it should some how relate to geography... its a called a map for a reason not fanitisy world if u wana make maps like that go to like world of warcraft or something and stop making stupid idiotic maps

Wow, pretty hateful, hope ya were kidding... I personally like the fantasy type maps that DiM makes, I can only wipe out Europe so many times before I get bored. Playing the Age maps gives it more of a feel like I'm fighting in some of the areas of the books I used to read.
DiM wrote:i also made Age of Merchants (my very first map)
Meh, I'll be honest..have yet to play on it and looks hella confusing. I'm still having fun with Might so I'll leave Merchants on the back burner hehe.

same here.
I can't think about the map when the map key is flashing at me... way too distracting.
the animated legend was just for fun it's not gonna stay. i was just bored

1. be polite, i didn't insult you
2. nobody is forcing you to play a map you don't like
3. a map doesn't need to be of something real. in fact many fantasy books include fantasy maps. and frankly i like making fantasy maps because i don't want my creative flow to be disrupted by real geographical boundaries.
4. before you call any map stupid (not just mine) please take your time and try creating one.
