Bit of conflicting info there.the main focus of the map is to take control of the center and hold it for 1 turn.
the middle territ, however, cannot attack, and gains 1 autodeploy each turn.

I say stick to your original plan and make it to be characterized with an asteroid, I like the idea of players being forced to work to the center.
