I couldn't stop thinking how the woman resembled Kate Beckinsale and that it had that Underworld meets Resident Evil vibe

It felt like it was too short for some reason

If I were you, this is how I would have approached Doomsday:
First shot: Obscure closeup of something obscure; perhaps a medieval weapon from that interesting segment.
Second shot: Modernize is to throw people off. A gun, car, anything that doesn't connect well to the medieval start.
Third shot: Something medieval again, but a little more telling. Someone in a suit of armor, a clip of a castle, anything.
Fourth shot: Maybe something similar to what you posted... but perhaps something in the "prison" or during the ceremonies to make it a little less obvious.

It's all about progression/throwing people off!

Or... you could be like me and host obscure horror movies no one else will have seen
