Balsiefen wrote:I quite like it actually, nice and graphicly simple like portugal, colours are quite nice but boarders need a lot of redoing to get rid of those pixels.

Hard to comment on gameplay until territs & impassibles are done.

(you'll need some more graphical decoration as well (and a box for the bonuses, you cant see half of them)

thanks :D

thats what i was going for simplicity
the border lines were done last night in a rush to get a draft out cause i knew i wouldnt have time to work on it til tomorrow.
but impassible will be in along with territory names etc
artwork ill leave til last.
just work on getting the basic stuff done right
but thanks fro response

Simplicity can be done nicely. One thing I fear this map will have horrendous game play...most islands like this have too many bottle necks. I suppose you could use ports, but then the map would seem like the Philippines map.

thats what im trying to avoid

i do have ports in the next update
well the 3 main airports
im also open to the idea of adding some of the surrounding smaller islands. as non continental but other ways to try and avoid such bottlenecking
plus im always ope to ideas. anyway new update will be out by end of my day in aussie

:) balsiefen, you'll be happy to hear ive included a few more mini continents...
believing the Game play should reflect the history :) i think that showing the maori
a group of smaller Tribes rather than one united front when it comes to home territory but a sense of "controlling the ships controls the armies of war" on the other gives a nice feel :)
Hope you all Like Version 2! :)

Dai_atan, the new graphics look great for landside and the background. The ships, however, look completely out of place. They look like you took clip art from Microsoft Word, printed it off, gave the picture to a 5-year-old and told him to cut it out, then scanned the result onto your map. [/Mibi]

But do look to improving the boat graphics, they're a major turnoff for me.

New Zealand Map

Post by milner94 »

I lived in New Zealand for a bit and I think it would be good to make a map for it. I don't actually know anything to do with making the maps, so if someone could use what I suggest here and make a map using
http://www.tourism.net.nz/images/maps/nz-map.gif
as the basis for the territories, without any continents. There would be one sea route, from Wellington to Marlborough. The Southern Alps (impassable) would run down the entire length of Canterbury (blocking it from Nelson and the West Coast) and along Mount Cook and Wanaka, preventing them from reaching the West Coast as well. Wanaka DOES NOT have a link to Fjordland. The full list of territories is:

NORTH ISLAND (14)
Northland
Auckland
Coromandel
Waikato
Bay of Plenty
Eastland
Rotorua
Taupo
Ruapehu
Taranaki
Wanganui
Manawatu
Wairarapu
Wellington

SOUTH ISLAND (13)
Nelson
Marlborough
West Coast
Canterbury
Christchurch
Mount Cook
Wanaka
Queenstown
Fjordland
Otago
Dunedin
Southland
Stewart Island

I'm working on this idea already.
But it won't be posted to the public for a while. Making it for a tutorial sort of thing for the foundry.

I'll PM you, maybe you could help me out a bit.

Not exactly conducive for a good map... probably would get a lot of bottlenecks...

New Zealand

Hi there

I would like to see a map of NZ made for CC. I have no idea how to go about this but would be willing to help out in every way I can, giving me a chance to learn about about the process as well.

Thanks

I agree, NZ, though as you aren't posting a map yourself I'm moving this to Ideas.

I've started putting together an Idea for a New Zeland map, most of the map artwork is done, i just need to add a few birs and pices to it and i will put it up in the Foundry. Here is a Quick outline.

As well all know (or should) Rugby is like a religion in New Zealand. My map is based around this main idea.
The map will have 26 territories on it which represent the 26 Provincal Unions.
There will be 5 'Content' Bonus areas, you will get these bonuses by holding all of the feeder teams for the Super Rugby franchises (ie holing Southland, Otago, North Otago will give you a Bonus because these are the feeder teams for the highlanders) Im also thinking about 'super Bonuses' for holing all of the North Island or all of the South Island.

Keep an eye out in the foundry for this to up and let me know your thoughts, i'll put in a link when its up. (hopefully in the next couple of days cause im off work with swollen glands, if my current 41 games don't get in the way)
