oaktown wrote:Oooooh... maybe we should split up and actually make two maps, not one. A geographically correct Mars map and a Sci-Fi-Fantastic Martians map. Gimil is away and I'm about to split for a week, so we can discuss this down the road.

I wholeheartedly support this and would play both Mars maps.

Re: First Nations of North America.. UPDATE 05/15

I really love this map so far and I'm looking forward to playing it.
I'm not feeling the canoes though, they seem out of place to me. I also agree with oak that the Arctic region might need to be re-examined.

Re: Land and Sea [Beta]

IT MAKES NO SENSE FROM A REALISTIC POINT OF VIEW!!!
I'm pretty sure the mapmakers didn't have reality in mind when creating this map. In fact I think edbeard stated right away that he was concerned only with the gameplay. I'm glad he approached it this way.

I'm in round 5 of a 3 player game and ...

Re: conquerbook - FIRST DRAFT POSTED

Quick update, here's a background image that I'm happy with. I followed TNBDS's advice about the small islands and the logo.

Re: conquerbook - FIRST DRAFT POSTED

That was the original plan, but it becomes unnecessary if the goal of the game was to hold x amount of friends.

Re: conquerbook - FIRST DRAFT POSTED

I like that, but how to determine if one friend is more important than another? Perhaps if certain friends have more friends (borders) than others, they are worth more? A friend with only one border/friend could be a -1, while one with 5 borders/friends could be a +3, for a rough example.
I like ...

Re: conquerbook

Yeah, you may want to add a +__ bonus for all males and +__ for all females but you really need to make it something more than a regular map, maybe you have to connect with 5 different friends or something lol, like there is a separate "board" where all the players have "bases" like in the St ...

Maybe "Friend Book" and you add cool names for people like "Australian Friend" and INCREASE THE TERRITS or it can not go on

Re: facebook.

I wouldn't say I'm focusing on Doodle Earth, but more on small maps.

I believe I have a way to get around the copyright issues, but I need to get to my home computer first so I can work on it a bit.

Re: facebook.

The tight fit was kind of the appeal of it for me, depends what you like of course. Doodle Earth works with 18 territories.

Besides, it's just an idea right now. I wouldn't be crushed if it never happened.

conquerbook - FIRST DRAFT POSTED

UPDATE April 10:
Here's my first attempt to get the visuals right. I still haven't decided on territ count, but i did some test runs and 24 fits comfortably on the big map (825px wide). I stuck my icons on there too, just to show them off. They're 26px wide so troop counters will fit on them. I'm ...
