I think a map where everyone started out on equal footing would be cool. I like the unknown of all the maps, but haveing one where you knew you would all start the same would be fun. I envision 8 circles equally spaced around a ninth in the center. Each player would start in the center of a circle with 3 armies, like Fuedal, the only way to get to the others is through the center. So if you play with less players the drop doesn't matter, you are no closer to the empty "continents" than anyone else. Maybe rob a few other ideas from Fuedal liek the auto deploy on your center. ALso a penalty for holding the middle cirlce, like "8 thoughts" since it is an advantageous spot. If you took 8 thoughts and extended the borders to the outside edge of the brain, so that the only avenue of attack was through the middle, then mix in the equal start adn auto deploy from fuedal. I can make an image if anyone wants to see it, jsut don't know how to upload it.

I don't think that will the case. Good or bad dice rolls will have an affect like they always do. But I think strategy and decision making will have an even bigger role since one of the elements of luck (geography/initial deployment) will be removed. You can definitely still be too aggressive, or conservative, just like the other maps. Bust out too soon and you may get taken out. Stay too long and you'll miss out on bonuses.
yes, in fact I think it would be ideal for a less than 8 player game so you have other territories to conquer and use to build up armies. However, everyone would have an equal shot at those neutral regions so placement wouldn't matter.
this will be all dice, no strategy. you cant go for a specific bonus as there are none, there is only one attack route and it so happens to be a perfect choke point. hold one territory to defend every one of the outside circles you have.... the reason it will be all dice is that you cant maneuver around the field, you can only go forward and wheres the strategy in that? sure you say "players have to choose when to go" and stuff. my strategy in that case would be to build up until i see some1 has taken some1 else out then i pounce for an easy kill. would be very effective in 3 player games
Just dropping by to say this is a bad idea. For reasons already stated. I was going to let it drift away, but since it is still towards the top anyway.
There would be bonuses for holding a territory. And there would be a severe penalty for holding the center so it would be hard for anyone to just squat on it. Like Feudal you could get all of the territoroes in your circle and then just sit there. If you do that you'll be losing out on cards, sometimes that works, and sometimes it doesn't. I really like feudal and whoever came up with that did an awesome job. I was just thinking from time to time I would like to play the same thing, but to where it is even more equal. Maybe there should be no center circle, but an attack route from that point to all others, like so:
