we thought about that, but the island bonuses kinda help out.
Randall's Island is technically part of Manhattan, so holding all the islands would make holding Manhattan +12 altogether.

Good point, I hadn't thought about that.

Part of me is still in favor of adding Roosevelt island and Ryker's. I think those two locations are cool to add. It might be difficult to figure how Roosevelt would work though.

And apparently you get to Rykers from Queens but that would take adjusting too.

Since you have your gameplay stamp i would discourage any further add ons, but as always thats your call :)

It would be awesome if you found a way to put them in. The only real problem I see is finding the space.

I know. The draw is that Rykers is another recognizable location for anyone that's watched a law/cop show based in new york. it's the local prison.

Roosevelt I would add because it's a highly populated residential location and it's fun to play on a map that includes a territory you live in.

Previously we excluded those two locations because of the dense amount of territories. Not much has changed. For Roosevelt to work it couldn't be placed inside of the territory and there isn't all that much room to place it outside with the east river name, the bridge that would cross over it, and the army shadow.

It would take a large readjustment and we've come pretty far already.

Benny and I have debated this a few times but I'm having trouble letting go.

We'll see.

Next update will be the islands or cleaned up train lines...

i think the beauty of nyc for CC is that upwards of 5 or 6 TOTALLY different maps could be made with nyc as the backdrop. for instance, this is a general area map with some subway lines... you could make an escape from NY map where rykers plays some major focus... there could be a landmarks or tourist map as our 'friend' pointed out, there could be a map focused on the financial aspect, or one focused on the different cultural neighborhoods.
and they could ALL have different graphics and gameplay!
this is just one possible version, and a great one at that!

so no offense, ink, to your island, but i just don't think it'll fit here, and with the map being so close to completion, i'd hate to see them have to adjust the whole thing one more time.

there could be an early NY map, British vs. the Dutch! (colonial period), a NewYork draft riots map (civil war period)... the possibilities are endless. if i had two hands and more time, i'd claim one of those right now. but if anyone is interested in trying to make one i'd love to provide my input on theme graphics and gameplay.

I know, I know, I had accepted it until snap said he wanted Roosevelt Island back in...

But it still makes me sad.

On another note, I'm thinking of starting a Battle for the Tram! map. Problem is, even most New Yorkers don't know what the Tram is. It could be so awesome though.

this map keeps getting better and better, does NYC have more than 1 airport? excuse my ignorance and if its aldready been suggested - but you could do a bombard link or just a normal link between them?

yeah, there's JFK and LaGuardia.
it's been suggested before, and it didn't really fly.
besides, they're both in Queens, so as far as gameplay goes,
it doesn't really bring much to the table.
not to mention, there isn't really any actual connection between them,
so i don't see why they would be able to attack, or bombard, each other.
unless we include highways, and you can sit in traffic on the Grand Central Parkway, and the Van Wyck.
which, naturally, would have decay on it.

              Final Forge

---The New York City Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry Furnace (okay, maybe not) and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

We are bound by the foundry way
to address all that you say
so please don't keep us waiting Laci Mae."

You, Mr. Profane, are absolutely hilarious.

I'm not sure my comment still applies. Looking at v15, I see that you've edited the text that describes the rules of the transfer stations. It's now very clear that (for example) The Village Station belongs to A Train and F Train.

I'm excited to hear that this has passed to the Final Forge. You guys have done excellent work and created a very interesting map. I can't wait to play!

Best,
Laci

congrats guys....nice job. I still don't like the grafitti over the sign as it doesn't fit with the rest of the map design - being clean, Had you done the map in a hiphop style or similar then it would have fit, but that is purely a subjective preference from myself.

good work. though. :) :)

Congrats guys! I'm glad to see this made the jump to Final Forge.

Yes, cairns, the graffiti is an eye-sore. That's what makes it so uniquely NYC. Most of the real stuff is an eye-sore, too.

BTW- Do you need/want to update the topic of the 1st post to include all the stamps received so far? I've noticed it's been done on several other maps - it's helpful as one glances over the topics in the listings...

It is horribly an eye shore, and I hate it. But I like it.

This would be most helpful to everyone indeed.
