The dice have nothing to do with how many games you win per month. Maybe you were playing tougher opponents, maybe your strategy just did not work for one or two games, there are so many variables with each game. If you were to play 1000 Doodle 1v1 games with the same settings (no cards, unlimited forts, just to take some strategy out of it) they would all come out differently because the starting position is different. Maybe you just kept getting a poor drop, or did not go first when you did have a good drop. Who knows.RADAGA wrote:Fine, but that still does not change the fact I am having a 6 months streak of largelly off the media rolls. Check victories, up to may I got an average of 6 victores / month. I have not changed my play style, I have not changed the kinds of game I play, and I play a very specific type of game. Always the same settings over and over.
Since may, I got 6 vitories ... and there were months I got none at all. What on earth can explain that someone that used to win 25% of the games he plays (not a very good statistics, but a decent one) Suddently wins NONE for months in a row.
Answer: bad dice. for months and months and months. I still play, hoping the streaks turn into my favour, and because it gives me something to do in between work. BUT thas it. I always hit a 3x2 expecting 2 full defences before I have a chance of taking 1 from them. I start games and look for one 3x1 after a few people play to grant a card, not trusting a 6x3 or a 7x3 to wield.

Q: have you ever used auto assault ?

Or you could hire 10,000 people in Africa or India to set in front of a computer and roll REAL dice all day. and then phone it in.lackattack wrote:Okay for all you programmers out there, I base the dice on mt_rand. The function is automatically seeded by PHP, and then it spits out random series of numbers.
The problem (assuming there is a problem and its not just sore loosers complaining) may be that each page refresh is re-seeded with a similar seed. So when you attack, you may replay the same random series as the last attack because they happened close to each other.
This is just my theory, I have no idea. But to be safe I can use a list of random numbers from random.org and pull from the list each time the dice is rolled. I am running a test right now to see how many dice get rolled per day, and if I can get my hand on enough random numbers so that I won't run out while people are playing.
Stay tuned....

Yes and the result is just the same. Accept it's like jumping in the cold sea. The quicker you do it , the less painful it feels.Stephen Wayne wrote:i have almost herd enogh of dice

Perhaps my observations are astute or maybe I just did my homework, a lot of it before registering for the site. Yes, my games completed are limited, but I hope that doesn’t mean that my views are invalid.e_i_pi wrote:Good point OS, especially in light of the fact that he hasn't played anyone who's name is synonymous with 'Bounce UrRelative'owenshooter wrote:what are these "dice" you speak of? and very astute observations for someone with 5 games...-0

I played my first game of Risk 40+ years ago and experienced the same problems with the dice then. It’s just that, with the board game you can make yourself feel better by throwing the f*cking things across the room.
And come on e_i_pi , with only 5 games to plough through, you must have got that clue. I’m guessing you don’t do many crosswords.
We already suggested that numerous times, but he assures us that this is not the caseNickbaldwin wrote:Or maybe he's shit at Risk.

I agree with a lot of this.Iron Butterfly wrote:The only difference between auto assault and plain assault is that auto assault is all or nothing. If you are playing a game where the out come depends on eliminating someone from a game that is my mentality. ALL or nothing.
Otherwise the probabilities for each roll is EXACTLY the same. Personally there is a big advantage to auto in that it eliminates the psychological factor that otherwise would prevent you from winning that round. Most follks would quit after 2 to 3 losses and miss out on the win because they quit before they do so.
I have had more bad roll experiences using assault because my objectives went uncompleted and I considered it a loss. With auto with some exceptions I win. I have had bad rolls with auto but no more so then with using assault.
It really is a matter of perception and it definitely has its uses.

That's not bad luck.FabledIntegral wrote:I decided to try farming as of late, just to see if I could do it, and I failed miserably. The reason? Dice. Holy goddamn f*ck. I went something along the lines of 14 v 2 being reduced to 3v1. Etc. I lost vs people who within the first 2 turns attacked neutrals more than they attacked me, and won. Another game someone took an area similar to oceania where I had THREE territories and he had ONE and he captured all 3 to gain the 2 bonus... and he had a neutral barrier so I couldn't break it. He conquered 9 armies over 3 spaces with friggin' 7. I responded by having 12 v 3 win with me advancing 3. I lost 2/3 games where the players were absolutely HORRID. Terrible terrible strategies. Dice completely shafted me.

Agreed. "Many times" doesn't even begin to describe it. These days we keep them all in the same thread ...Namor wrote:The so called problem of unfair dice is one that has been debated many times as far as I can see.
