It says in the first post "for freestyle games"Skiman wrote:This is only needed for freestyle. This would be annoying for sequential games
Sorry, but if you need 5 minutes to think through your first round move, you are doing something wrong.bedub1 wrote:Round 0 should be the same length as all other rounds...give everybody a chance to realize the game is on, view the board, plan their great grand overall strategy...1 minute is too short...5 minutes is the perfect length....but maybe give everybody an option to hit a button for "game on!" which will start the game immediately....short of the 5 minute mark.
that's a great solution. Once everyone has hit the "start" button, the game begins. If anyone hasn't pressed it within 5 minutes, they get booted out, or maybe count it as a missed turn.bedub1 wrote:give everybody an option to hit a button for "game on!" which will start the game immediately....short of the 5 minute mark.
Not strictly true - technically everyone should have a chance to see the board before play commences - especially in a foggy game.Skiman wrote:This is only needed for freestyle. This would be annoying for sequential games

The entire 5 minutes hopefully won't be used for planning. Sometimes these games take a bit to fill. Sometimes nature calls and I have to excuse myself to the restroom...and if the game starts while I am gone...i could use the 5 minutes. But if I come back early, or if everybody is ready, then we just hit the start button and get going. The Neon Peon wrote:Sorry, but if you need 5 minutes to think through your first round move, you are doing something wrong.bedub1 wrote:Round 0 should be the same length as all other rounds...give everybody a chance to realize the game is on, view the board, plan their great grand overall strategy...1 minute is too short...5 minutes is the perfect length....but maybe give everybody an option to hit a button for "game on!" which will start the game immediately....short of the 5 minute mark.
No...no punishment. The game just starts without them having hit the "Start" button. if they miss 3 turns then they get booted...But failing to hit start on Round 0 isn't a missed turn as in round 0 nobody gets to take a turn.Timminz wrote:that's a great solution.
