I don't know, i think its better if they aren't exactly the same becuase it looks more hand drawn, but if the general public want it more even then i will
- Move everything down so that the "Old Port" connections is not crammed in
I will, but i don't have that much room
- Make that connection go above the word "Treasure" and connect to "Grand Peninsula" instead
ok
- Connect "New Port" to "Eastern Peninsula" instead of "Grand Peninsula"
ok
- The Havens should connect to "Tibbar" instead of "Long Point"
Maybe, the only problem with that is then there are only 2 non bordering territs instead of 3, would that be ok
- Connect "Black Dog" to the connection from "Creeker" to "South Grendelia"
ok, but if i do should i make the pirate armada bonus one bigger

Those are mainly for gameplay, and then one or two that do not affect gameplay but make it more graphically appealing.
ya, but are the neutrals good

You still have too much vertical spacing between text.
With this text it is impossible to get rid of it unless i make the lines two seperate layers, which i will do if it becomes a big concern

No. Go to Window › Paragraph, then in that little box where you see a symbol that looks something like this =, reduce it until the words are closer together. Be sure to select the text, though.

I can draw lines much better than that. The difference it that it is much easier to be accurate with a pen or pencil than with a gigantic mouse by free hand. But it is up to you.

You have plenty of room at the bottom of the map under the legend.
- The Havens should connect to "Tibbar" instead of "Long Point"

:?: I am asking you to change a connection from one territory to another. That does not change the amount of connections to the bonus.

ok, but if i do should i make the pirate armada bonus one bigger
No, 3 troops for 3 territories needed to hold it. Besides, you do not want the map to be very bonus heavy if you want people to go for the objective.

Honestly? C'mon, you can't use that as an excuse. I've had to redo Korea and its borders four times now, but the point is its worth it, and these lines will take much less than that.

I would offer help if I still had photoshop.

However, since you are redrawing lines anyways as to where they connect, I thought it might be better to express the concern then than afterwards and have you redo all of what you just did.

then i would try scaling it down and then filling the background with it so maybe you could see more creases in the wood(in the spots where you see the wood)

As I said previously, the standard of the graphics on this map are beyond that of a simple draft.

My current concerns are:
  • 1. The balance of the playable area (ie the position and size of the treasure island).
    2. Objective-style gameplay. I am not critical of the gameplay at all - but want to seek assurance from the mapmaker in relation to what they are trying to achieve, and how they think games might pan out in different game styles.
There is more work involved in #1 than #2, and this is the primary issue that is now holding the map out of the main foundry.

Thank you

My current concerns are:
  • 1. The balance of the playable area (ie the position and size of the treasure island).
I made treasure island smaller, and expanded the other playing area, but i will do more if it is wanted/needed
    2. Objective-style gameplay. I am not critical of the gameplay at all - but want to seek assurance from the mapmaker in relation to what they are trying to achieve, and how they think games might pan out in different game styles.
Ok, lets see. In a team game, probably most of the game would be one team mate trying to guard the other player while the other player tries to go for X, or just standard gameplay, maybe using the territories on Grendelia to get to other bonuses. On a non-team game with many players, it would probably be standard gameplay until a few opponents are eliminated, and then somebody might go for X. On a 1v1 game. It would probably be going strait for bonuses, building an army and going for X, or trying to kill your opponent.
There is more work involved in #1 than #2, and this is the primary issue that is now holding the map out of the main foundry.

Just a few questions...
  • 1. At the moment there are 20 neutrals, and the order going 2,3,4,5,6. Does this seem like to much? I could make the ports start 1, then it would be 1,2,3,4,5. This would make the neutrals on Grendelia 15, is 15 better than 20, and is 1 to low for the port?

    2. Should I add more boats? I could make the boats smaller and add more boats. Or leave them as they are, and add only 1 or 2 more boats.

    3. If you were playing a team game, what would you do? If you were playing a 2 player game, what would you do? If you were playing a standard game with many players, what would you do?

1. I think the neutrals are good as are.

2. I think the boats are good, but i would make the bonus 3, not 2.
If you think about it, the boats are the same a shreinfeld. There are five territories and two that can be attacked. And it is even easier to hold the boats because one of the territories that can attack them(the boats) starts as neutral because it is on Grendelia.

3. If I were playing a team game, then i would most likely do what you said earlier (allow one teammate go for the x and the other protect).
If I were in a 1v1 game, my strategy would depend on my drop. I would go for the boats, because they are easy to hold and i get bonus and then from there I would go for the X. If I got a bad drop though, then I don't know what i would do.
If I were in a standard with many people it would depend on my drop but I would most likely go for the X, by stacking on a port and then attacking the neutrals.

No keep them high! I have been telling you to make them high!

v21
Image
changes
  • 1. Changed connection from havens to long point, to new havens to tibbar
    2. added another boat
    3.changed riddle to match gameplay
    4. added a burn hole next to the swords and skulls
    5. Got rid of some of the vertical spacing between written lines

I think you just made the boat more confusing!
Where can black dog attack (as one example)?
It looks like it may attack
  • Just South Grendelia
  • South Grendelia and Creeker
  • South Grendelia, Creeker and S. Bound
This look great but a lot of the attack routes are confusing.
Once this is fixed then it will be Main Foundry worthy.

This just gets better and better everytime I look at it. A couple of things though;

Firstly, There seems to be an overkill on attack routes and they seem to be muddled up.
  • What is the reasoning behind having a route from Far East to N.Bound and then back up to Middle World. Wouldn't it be better to go straight to Middle World?
  • Some of the attack routes going between ships criss-cross. I hate this, it looks messy.

Secondly, What about not grouping all the boats together? Why not move Treasure island down and anti-clockwise roughly 20 degrees and then moving a couple of the boats to the north of the island?

Thirdly, I love the colours of the islands. Very nice indeed!

Keep it going!

Would it be possible for the pirates to bombard any territories on any island? Also, since the treasure borders only one territory, wouldn't it be a bit too easy for someone to achieve an objective win?
