On what grounds?

He seems to be basing it on the fact that we're calmly and rationally questioning the policies of the administrators.

Well i believe in my case that would be a first offense, and therefore a warning would be the appropriate disciplinary step.

<laughing out loud> Well done!

And here we are a day later still waiting on andy. I guess he doesn't feel that the members here deserve an answer. Or maybe he's just shy?

I think this was meant for a different thread....one discussing mods having favourites, maybe?

Regardless, when in a position of authority, it is part of the responsibility to assert your authority fairly and without bias or favouritism. I've had to do this as a referee, an umpire, a VP, and an employer.

Heck, maybe I should be a mod....

No, you don't get it! It's their website so they can do whatever the f*ck they want, and we can't criticize them for it! SHUT UP, THE MODS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT! :o

No, no, no need to do that. OK.

Er...being a very pleasant person in General Discussion, at least that's the impression I get.

I don't know the exact procedure but a while back they were taking nominations.

Basically, I think you have to be someone who shows the ability to be "even-handed" and then also go through a kind of "security" check. (no idea what it involves).

Yes, honestly. I'm a teacher...I definitely have favorites and...not-so-favorites. But they have no idea who fits into which category, because I do honestly try very hard to treat them all the same.

That is the key. Now, I suspect they are intuitive enough to pick up, but if you honestly try your best to be impartial, that is all anyone can do.

I'm quite sure a fair number of them THINK they're in my favorites group (including a fair number that AREN'T). I'm quite certain that none of them think they're in my not-so-favorites group.

The best way to keep this up is by showering them with candy and free rides in your windowless van. :o

Cheers Jeff! The Lion Sleeps tonight! I will drink one in your honour in dying another glorious death.

Just for the record The Lion got banned for Flaming Twill/Wicked, it wasn't a perma-ban, probably a seven day ban. If I remember rightly he was fuming so much there was smoke coming out of every computer screen in the USA, and due to his in-ability to post because of the ban, he arrived back instantly with a multi (something ridiculous like 'Not the Lion') and then proceeded to Flame the mods again. Certain suicide if you ask me, comical as well, I had my feet up with a can of cider and pop corn through-out the lot.

Unfortunately all that jizz was in Flame Wars, so it has now transcended into folk legends which we must keep alive and pass around like a never ending joint. 8-)

I'm glad that we have conquer club historians like you to keep the stories alive..

Has anybody tried searching user posts to find old flame war threads?

This makes no sense. He just got banned, and if anything in flame wars was involved, it had to be 4 months ago because flame wars was deleted April 1st. . . . or am I missing something?
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer to the real question.

The removal of Flame Wars has allowed certain users to re-write history. Some, like the Pleasant Chaps, do it knowingly, to forget the shame of their cowardly defeat. chaosfactor, on the other hand, actually believes his drug-induced hallucinations. You can't believe a word out of his mouth. Or his ass.

Just for kicks, ask him about the flying crocodile that he rode to India to shop for Basmati rice. He swears that it happened.

The lion, that whole incident was some time ago. Then he came back as BES and was busted again for being a multis. Finally, his most recent incarnation has been captain crazy. Captaincrazy was only just busted, but he is the same person as the rest.

As for flame wars, etc ... I have no real idea and by now, I am sure the whole thing has been too fully muddied to really find out.

I don't know the whole story and what I do know might be wrong, but he was banned for being a multis. Specifically, I think he had some run-ins with a few of the old mods (one of which, wicked, was permabanned herself later for other reasons), then almost immediately created a new account with almost the same name, basically just to thumb his nose at admin.
