While not a secret to anyone who keeps up on every thread in this forum, you may be surprised to learn that Moldova can swoop under the mountains and hit Romania all unawares. This was an original feature that I just never wanted to come right out and disclose, because I thought it was fun having secrets that only a handful of people know about. Personally, I miss being able to hit Sinkiang from Tadzhik.
Some say this is unfair; I think it's just another example of knowledge=power, and experience is a great teacher.
However, I have received a handful of complaints about this. It doesn't seem the average user frequents this forum, so I can't be completely sure what the masses' response to this is (assuming enough people even stumble across it in the first place). I'm sure I'll get a response here, though.
Maybe you should simply delete the mountains, because you can take 3 continents and defend only Croatia / Spain. But, it would meake Germany continent still more difficult... real problem. The secret route is unfair, surely.
Did you correct already Saint Petersburg problems? I cant fortify from there to Norway... Nor from Norway to there... They are not listed as borders of each other, but they are borders in the map.
Actually, I just got into a game with this map and I wanted to hunt Grim down to tell him how impressed I am. I've played a few games on the U.S. and Asia maps, but mostly just to fill up the games of my buds. They really don't do anything for me. I was pretty leary of playing with the Europe map but it is very visually appealing. Quite spectacular actually.
I was just kind of wondering if there might be some border attack routes that might be hard to figure out when I stumbled on this thread. I should have known that Grim had an ulterior purpose in mind....lol

lol... Scarus, we don't know each other... and yet, you know me all too well.
The Norway/St Petersburg was a mistake I made on the map; I never wanted them to be connected. I could have sworn I sent revised images to lack, but maybe I'm wrong.
A secret of Europe is to throw 1 dice when attacking France. The French are experts in running up the white flag, and a single dice with 2 or more makes them surrender
One way attack routes are a good idea - and historically accurate, in a way. See, some folks got the guts to take an army across mountains, most don't.
...And that one, as a student of history. For example Serbs did quite an impressive retreat-through-mountains in First World War.
For those of you in favor of secret attack routes: How would you feel if you were winning a game on the Classic map, with control over North and South America, and with strong fortifications on Alaska, Greenland, and Brazil...
...and then suddenly you lost practically all of it, because someone launched an attack from Western Europe to the Eastern US via a secret route that only lack's best friends knew about?
I was checking the XML file (first time playing the map, and trying to make sure I understand all the borders correctly, since I already got bit by the visual connection between Norway and St. Petersburg when expecting to be able to attack), and noticed that Scandinavia lists
<component>Kyushu</component>
...except of course there's no country by that name on the map. Since it's my first time playing the map, I don't (yet) know if that affects the ability to get the bonus, but thought I'd flag it here in case anybody had any experience one way or the other way for sure, and so it might get corrected if it's an actual functional problem.
