FIrst Lunar War (Short Terminator Series, Relentless)
Congratulations to kgbpizza for winning the tournament !
Q: What is a ‘relentless’ tournament?
A: It is for relentless players – you get just 14 hours to take your turn.
- If you take any longer than that more than once (in any single match) then you lose that match (score no points). The same applies if you or miss a turn (just one turn). Simple!
It is up to players to report any infractions to the Tournament Organiser.
Setting:
With the discovery of Helium-3 on the moon, the World's major super-powers amass their space forces, hoping to secure control of the vast untapped HE-3 resources.
The superpowers launch wave after wave of attack craft, racing against each other to construst new shuttles as quickly as possible. A long series of battles takes place and thousands of rapidly conscripted astro-troops are massacred in what turns out to be a long, drawn-out campaign: the First Lunar War.
Can you lead your forces to ultimate victory?
This is another tournament in a series of short terminator tournaments I am releasing. It is open to all players with a decent attendance record (see below). Preemium required.
Details:
First Round:
Four groups of 5 players each engage in 4 terminator battles - two escalating, one flat rate, one nuclear. Due to attack craft arriving at different points in time, the 5 players also engage with one another in a round-robin series of 1 v 1 no spoils battles.
The 2 players with most terminations* will progress (in the event of a tie then finishing positions in terminator matches will be compared – if these are also equal then a tie-break will take place).
Players finishing third in each group will play a 1 v 1 tie-breaker with the winner progressing.
Semi-Finals:
Two groups of 5 players each engage in 4 terminator battles - two escalating, one flat rate, one nuclear.
Final:
One group of 5 players each engage in 4 terminator battles - two escalating, one flat rate, one nuclear. Due to attack craft arriving at different points in time, the 5 players also engage with one another in a round-robin series of 1 v 1 no spoils battles.
The player with most terminations* becomes the tournament winner (in the event of a tie then finishing positions will not be compared – a tie-break battle will take place).
* A victory in a 1 v 1 battles counts as 1 termination.
Match Options
Battles will take place on the Lunar War map.
Battles will be Terminator or 1 v 1, Automatic and Sequential.
Battles will also involve Adjacent Reinforcements and Fog of War. In each round there will be one Nuclear, one Flat Rate and two Escalating terminator battles. 1 v 1 battles will involve No Spoils, except tie-breaks which involve Nuclear spoils. (other settings the same).
Players
There will be 20 players.
Players must have a 97% attendance record, have played a minimum 25 matches, and not have dropped out from one of my tournaments previously! Preemium required.
Players will have 24 hours to join their matches from when the joining PM / invite is sent. Failure to do so will result in a reserve being sought (harsh, I know).
Reserves
All reserves will be sent a PM when an opening occurs. The first reserve to respond will gain a place.
For the first round, reserves will be drawn from the reserve list.
After each round players knocked-out will be sent a PM if a reserve position occurs. If this is unsuccessful then the matches in question will take place with one fewer player.
For the finals, reserves will not be sought - matches in question will take place with one fewer player.
Joining Matches
Players will be informed when they have a match and will have 24 hours to join. If they fail to do so then they will be ejected from the tournament and a reserve will replace them.
Build-Up Matches
The position of players at the end of 23 rounds will determine how they score (e.g. the number of terminations achieved at this point). The remainder of the game would then be a points-only affair.
Seedings / The Draw
For all rounds players will be drawn into group at random by random.org.
Partnerships / Regular opponents
Players must inform the tournament organiser if they have a regular partner or opponent that is also featuring in the tournament. The organizer can then ensure these players do not play together to avoid any potential claims of foul play by other players.
If reports of suspected foul play are made and the players in question have not declared that they are regular partners / opponents then they will be both be ejected from the tournament without question or the need for irrefutable evidence.
