Come see my new "Battlefeild Epic" map!

Post by lolkittens »

Its inspired by feudal epic. :D
Also, I made some of it in powerpoint. Like my soldiers I drew? the castle was also powerpoint.

Gameplay: Players start at their keeps. R1- R22 and B1- B22 all have 1 neutral troops on them. The towers have 5 neutral troops on them each. The grey areas have 3 neutral troops each. Only 2 people can play at a time. Good for settling disputes about who is better, and also no one loses any places for the first couple turns. Tired of joining sequential games and pretty much losing before you even take a turn? That doesnt happen here.
Any comments?

All maps need to be able to support 8 players.

It would be cool if something of this layout could be made to work.In other words, the map is created for 1 v 1 or team battles but there is some kind of alternative starting positions for multi-player games?

The question I have is, why does it HAVE to be for more than 8 people?

I mean, the original Feudal is only for 6 people (right?). Why can't we have a purely 1v1 map? It would be really fun and might actually make 1v1s even.

Maybe you can make this map in octagonal shape to support 8 keeps?

Take Chineses Checkers as an inspiration for that - gray are would be the middle and there would be 8 "cities" around it.

Well, that's the way it currently is. A map thread is not the right place for debating it though, I suggest you take it to foundry discussions or suggestions if you really want it changed.

You should also know that the original Feudal was made when the site only supported 6 player games, max.

or perhaps you can have 4 squares in each keep, and then program the xml to put all the people of the same team in the same keep?

would that work for this?

I'm having difficulty seeing how a two-sided map would work with more than two players...

Lolkittens, you should probably prepare yourself for the fact that the requirement for maps to be playable for 8 players and on all game types is not going to be changed any time soon.

Furthermore, I'm sorry to say this, but your graphical skills aren't up to par to the foundry standards. That's ok though. My first map drafts weren't much better (some might argue that they were indeed worse...) You just need to practice a whole lot. The mods will probably also want to see that you are able & willing to develop your graphical skills...

I would suggest tackling an easier project for your first map. Geographical maps are easier in two senses: you can find maps that you can trace, and also there are lots of tutorials for creating geographical maps that you can follow.

Now all you need is a solid idea for a map that hasn't been made yet. Hint: the history is full of material...

Sadly, the xml doesn't allow for team starting positions.

I'm hoping to start a vast campaign for this as a new feature though - it would be cool for new sports maps and historic battle maps etc.

I would like to do that, but apparantly, no one wants to allow a 1 v 1 or team only map to be created.

[Moved]

It would appear that development of this map has stalled. If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the Foundry Moderators will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made. ;-)
