For some reason.. I am not getting approval to run this event yet. Apparently you must have 16 players actually show up for an event.. which is just absurd. I ran an event with me and my buddies not too long ago .. using CC as the game. We had just 4 of us.. put a bit of a wager on the outcome and boom.. we were done. CC is going to dictate how events can be run and who can be invited to them? Thats absurd. However.. I do appreciate the structure of this site and the admins that are making sure things run with some sort of structure in place. That is a good thing and will help make sure this site remains competitive and sustainable for some time.
With all of that being said..
I will reorganize the event.. and go from there.
Look for more details later tonight.
Very sorry about this.. it is out of my hands at this point.
The rules are very clear.. but to simplify things even more.. here are how things will work.
Once we get 16 people to sign up/register on the CSN site that wish to take place in this event.. we will set a date/time to do so.
It really should not be that hard.. in fact.. i should be able to setup signups .. 2 hours before the start of the event.. get 16 peeps wanting and able to play.. they register for the event on the CSN site.. (so we can place them in the bracket).. I seed the event.. you have rules to follow on how to setup your matches.. and BOOM.. off you go. Winners report the scores..and are automatically advanced to the next round. We play 2 rounds on a Sunday night.. and finish up on a Monday night.. DONE DEAL!
I will keep working to help the CC TD Admins understand a bit more about how eSports works.. but for now.. I will change up things a bit to help them along.

The event will not be a 16 person bracket. I will start small to make sure we have a correct format and structure to create additional events.
First (1) round matches will be generated by Sunday afternoon and players will have until Tuesday at noon (12 EST) to complete the bo3 series.
2nd round matches will then be generated on Tuesday afternoon and players will have until Thursday at 7 PM EST to complete the bo3 series.
3rd round matches will be generated on Thursday at 7 PM EST and you will have until Sunday afternoon to complete them.
The semis and finals will be the following Monday night, starting at 8 PM EST and will be SPEED maps (bo3 semis, bo5 finals and 3rd place)
Does this sound more doable. By the time we get the semis and finals, there should be no excuses for players not showing up. If you fail to join your matches and finish them, then your opponent is rewarded a Forfeit win.
Hmm - I'm wondering what will happen if players show up at different times? Imagine both players show up equally, but never at the same time, and therefore don't get games played. For speed games they have to be there simultaneously.
The more flexible we are.. the more likely we are for the structure to break down and not be consistent.
I agree, and therefore for your format of tournament I would strongly suggest all players must be present at the stated time, rather than some time up until until 'Tuesday at noon'?
Any player who has not accepted their map invites or has not setup their own map for the round by 10 minutes after the start of the round
It seems that you are suggesting players set games up themselves - this could be highly problematic for the following reasons:
When running speed events previously some players have bizarrely struggled to send or read PMs. Sad, but true.
Many players dont turn-up despite their intentions
Invites are not possible with speed games
I recommend that YOU, the Tournament Organiser control creating games and sending PMs to players with passwords. Otherwise, player error will cause vital mistakes in alive tournament.
I also refer to Night Strike's points. Whilst you could make registering on the other web site a requirement (which I have just done and is a right hassle with a connection like mine), you also need to make sure players register here.

You can of course run a private tournament howver you wish - this should be advertised in the Callouts forum rather thean here though.
To get 16 players I highly recommend you adress some of the organisational questions / issues posted above. If players have confidence in the event and that it will be recognised with a tournament winners medal then they will sign-up, eventually. One put-off currently may be uncertainty about who is creating the games - tournament players are used to games being created for them and PMs with passwords (or ivnvites) being sent to them.
N.B. It takes longer than 2 minutes to register on the other site if you have a rubbish connection like me btw
OK.. here is the thing.. If I open the registration up to 16 players.. and lets say 16 do end up signing up.. if only 12 show up.. that is not on me.. thats on the players.. In that case..as it is in almost every gaming event.. there will be 4 players that get a bye (16-4 = 12 = 4 players with a bye).
I guess I was not aware that I would need to explain that..but I will now.
I think with all of the suggestions.. I even confused myself a bit about the event.. So I will just redo the original post with FINAL RULES and TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE and will only answer questions about the specifics in place.. and not make changes.
Running a speed event on CC is really no different then running a Star Craft II event.. it will be on the players to show up and play.. those that do not.. will get a FFL and their opponents will move on.
We should have the 'CHECK IN' system done on our site this week..and this will surely help.
16 players will sign up.. the CHECK IN system will go live an hour before matches are set to start... and you will need to CHECK IN.. those players that check in.. will be seeded on the bracket and matches will begin.
Thanks for your help though.
As for getting players to setup their own matches.. thats just something they will have to get used to.. the CC system is perfect still for this.. but because of the way things have always been done.. everyone is used to it being done for them. Its not a difficult concept to get I don't think.. to ask players to find their opponent.. setup a match and invite the players..but I can understand how if its not something they are used to..that it may be trouble.
THIS TOURNAMENT WILL RUN.. and I will pay out prizes for it.. its my personal goal at this point..
in please. However, you do need either to run this tournament independently of CC or somehow prestate the structure. I want to know when the games are.
This tournament is so poorly organized it just raises that many more red flags.
