Latest versions.
Removed some annoying bright green pixels from the bushes in the large version and moved some territ names in the small so all of the 888's go above the names now.

Going to spend the next 2 days concentrating on learning and writing the xml for this thing of beauty so if I do not post a reply do not worry.

I'm pretty darn satisfied with most everything about this map, except for the legend font---it feels like a word document was typed out onto the map.

Aside from that though, things look pretty good. Nice work koontz.

 koonitz not responding for a whole day  but seriously great work getting it to this point but your relentless pace might be slowed down in the FF unfortunetly.

Good job on the bushes. They look much better now than a couple of pages ago! I'm not sure about the font used in the title though. How about you give us some different alternatives and we can vote on the font we like the most?

i disagree, the only font that can come into question right now is the legend font, the title looks great and does not need changing

Poll is out of the question. I am not going to wait a week for 2 votes and then change it because of that. Find a font you like and I will run up a mock for you to look at. If I think it is better then I will change it. I like the title as is though for now but that does not mean that it will not change if you find a better font.

Font in the legend is going to change a little. From one easy to read type to another.

Just got part one of the xml written and as soon as I get the complicated bonuses done then I will change.

Will do.

No, I need to turn it down to the same as the small one. Will do it tonight as soon as I get the xml done.

Removed same type from trees.
Legend 150 yard line is now symmetrical as it was really out of whack.

Glow around 1 name was bad, sorted it.
Bush and tree pixels like large.
Both legends had blackish spots. Removed.

The yellow glow/stroke on the legend looks awful - I'm not sure you need it to help the clarity of the text... it may be better to play with your text aliasing settings, or at least changing the transparency of that bright yellow glow.

I'm not sold on the legend; it just looks like somebody got some icons and stuck them in that space together with a scripty/handwriting typeface. Check out some of the titles on qwerts maps, or pretty much any other map, to see how the title should integrate with the rest of the map

MrBenn, looked at Qwerts titles as you suggested, and out of all of the ones I saw, only Polly war looks like something I might try to copy. With that said, the type face I want to keep but will play around with the layout today.

The glow in the main legend is going, never really liked it but I am going to tweek it to keep it around the 3 bonuses to get these to stand out more or they do get lost.

New title legend for both. Removed the glow both main legends but left it around the bonuses. Tweeked them as well. Sorted the xml issue with positions.

The legend text looks heaps better - although the font appears to pixellate on both maps.
The legend is a slight improvement... I can;t really explain what it is I don't like about it... I just think it could be made to be more appropriate for the map somehow?

I'm in agreement. I've always thought that the reason the legend looked strange to me is because it looks like a computer 'typed and printed out the text' onto the map, rather than having the text be a part of the map, if that makes any sense.

But this map has come a long way, so mucho congrats.

MrBenn & AndyDufresne, thanks for the comments, the text looks computer based as it is a computer styled font. cairnswk suggested to use it over one of the fonts I had before. I will go back to the map today and try another font to see what I can find. The title text is staying though but I will play with it some more today, as this I do like and want to keep.

Thanks.

I have taken the liberty of showing what I think the legend should look like.
The only font used is Verdana, and i have used the double stroke image from the shields in the title to create some separation guides in the bottom legend to give it a tie with the top legend by one element alone...

koontz1973...above is what i recommended...Verdana font....not what you currently have (which looks like a Times font)...please be clear to get facts correct before dunking someone :)

Yeah definitely use a sans serif font for the legend.
