Random Medal

Post by chapcrap »

So, my question is about the Random Medal.

Does anyone know how to tell how close they are the medal? Other than looking through all of your old games? Map Rank doesn't support information for this medal, so I didn't know if there was another way.

you can look for random maps as a item in map finder, that way you can see all your random maps, and then it is manuel counting. maprank does not do this yet.

Yeah, I was hoping there was a different way other than counting manually.

Nope not as far as I know! It's quite easy to estimate though.

huh, i just spotted 3 rather short reply's to this forum. could you at least elaborate how you come to this conclusion? i sure as hell can't.
remember different settings is what most people use, but they have to at least be different people to count for the medal, how do you do a quick estimate from there?

Well I can't post walls of text every time can I? What I did was to search for all 2 player random games I've been in, look how many I've played in and count about half that number as wins. Should be a pretty good estimate for me at least. (I'm taking into account that sometimes I've beaten the same person twice.) Then do the same with 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 player games but change win ratio accordingly. You won't get an exact number of course but a an estimation. I found I've got about 10 random wins from silver for example.

I can tell you my method but most people will probably think I'm a dick lol. I first cleared my foe list. Then every person I beat on random I put them on foe. This allows you to keep track of how many defeats you have (by counting your foes), as well as avoiding people you have already beat so it's quicker to get the medal. Then take everyone off your foe when you have the medal.

 =D> That's close to a perfect way of keeping track of it! And you'll get the medal faster. I wouldn't call you a dick for it. After all I'm the one with a 93% attendance ;) .

weren t they supposed to add it to map rank? i saw the other day they were offering a GA medal to ant programer who could do it..

my method is a bit boring lol... i just copy pasted in an excel in alphabetical order the usernames I had beaten after searching random games and kept on adding, writing which was the last game number i counted because I just do it once in a while.
I did it for the silver random, but now for gold i think i ll pass! ;-)
thought a programmer would fix map rank by the time i get close to it. i must be around 120-140 so i have plenty of time before getting close and wondering when the gold is coming!

I did something similar, retrieving data using the api. A quick tidy-up of the data and it was reasonably easy to see how many unique kills I have. I've now got a list so I know who I've already beaten for the medal, without having to foe anyone
