Atlantis (Plato's Version)

Postby Cujo on Fri Apr 20, 2007 3:42 pm

I haven't seen this in progress anywhere, so forgive me if its been done. Here is my first draft.

EDIT: Sorry I wanted to preview, not post...

I got the idea off of this rendition of the city: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Atlantis_picture.jpg

I haven't decided how many countries to use yet or how best to divide them up, so any suggestions would be appreciated. The canal would touch all rings and be worth +1 but not belong to any territory.

Maybe a stargate atlantis one would be a better idea.

Who would want to conquer an island that's gonna sink anyway? :P

Mabye people dont know it's going to be sunk yet, or its already sunk, and resurfaced. Either way, its better than nothing. Make borders or I cant suggest anything yet.

That was more of a joke, actually.

Perhaps this should be in the map ideas thread instead, more things are needed to be done before comments.

i actually wanted to do this map but plato's version does not leave room for too much gameplay, plus i encountered real difficulty in naming the territories as i could not find enough documentation.

then i got the idea of a dynamic map with multiple xml and decided to go with the santorini volcano island. it would have been before and after the eruption. one big island at first that at a certain point (eruption) breakes into several smaller ones. but since dynamic maps are impossible i did not pursue the idea.

A 3D version of the map based on this picture you posted would be great. Perhaps mibi would be interested to help?

Btw, DiM...have you got a better looking avatar? :p

It would be so much easier if someone could make borders... Right now, no comment.

This looks dangerously close to being another version of the siege map, with the circular walled in city and the surrounding island.
