Post by Soloman »

when someone uses the delay tactic of waiting untill either you deply or waiting to start turn till you logg off when they are logged on is this a honorable fair tactic or just a cheap sleazball way of playing for skill inept waht are your oppinions?

As compared to at least one freestyle tactic I could name, this seems legit. ;)

It comes off as annoying, but I accept it as part of the freestyle-intermixed-turns price.

I put cheap tactic.

Iv used it before and although it worked that turn the same happened the next turn and the tables were turned moreso in their favor.

Needless to say I dont use the tactics anymore because the guy on the receiving end usually get pissed ,and its underhanded.

Man Iv sounded noobie today with my posting.

Legit tactic, but if the other players get really mad then they might just all come after you in the game, so try at your own risk I'd say.

I once stayed alive in a game by using the opposite tactic.....it was down to two players and the other had started his turn I logged on took a card and logged off while he was still taking his turn

Since he ended the round he couldnt start the next round even though technically i started my turn after him.

what I think is cheap is a player who has gone already but not logged off who then troop moves his men around the board multiple times during your turn while you are trying to attack so that you face 20 armies at every turn even though he technically doesnt have anywhere near enough to defend everything

I say that tactic is cheap and if you need to resort to it you lack the skill to win otherwise. I also dont play people once they engage in this and i dont do it myself

It's cheap, but sadly legit also.

Hence why many people don't play freestyle:)

Where's the "cheap and legit" option?

to me it is a part of playing freestyle games, i don't often play them but when i do i have no problem waiting untill they've finished their turn and then quickly grabbing a continent that i would never be able to hold, but starting my next turn before they can break it and getting the extra armies or anything else.

a good tactician will use more than just the game board to their advantage, and if you don't like it then just don't play freestyle.

This is not cheap - its a perfectly fair part of a freestle game. If you dont like it, dont play freestyle but i think it adds to the game myself.

I agree. It's part of the game. You guys who say it's cheap or underhanded are trying to make freestyle conform to the rules of sequential. To me, the whole point of freestyle is trying to use timing to your advantage.

What the hell do you think freestyle is man. It's completely part of the game, hell, it is the game. Where else do you get the advantage. Learn to play them and you'll understand them. Sometimes it you need to go first, sometimes last, now and then it doesn't matter. Cheap? This is Risk, War!!
