One thing to keep in mind when making alien selections is your play style as well as # of players you have. Some are better for clans that plan to use only 10, while others might be more fitting of 30, and others balanced etc.

Don’t just weigh the abilities, but how you’d use it and how it applies to your group

Also since several have asked, the current plan is to have w map significantly larger (assuming we get sign ups equal to or larger than v1) which does make sensors and warp important

mines have no limits to # per ship. They are tied to that ship and just get “placed” as your ship travels during your turn submission. One purchase is one minefield, which does 1d4 damage to a starship that lands on that hex in the future (one time use). It’s a costly resource drain but can be effective in some scenarios without risking ur fleet in battle

We have 4 official sign ups now!
9 others are likely sign ups
2 maybes
4 thinking about it
10 not responsive
1 no

I've also made a big FAQ update, and updated a few other things (like mines) in the rules. Most of the alien related questions have been regarding Raheel, but feel free to ask stuff about any of them :)

As all of you know, one of the big "keys" to CR@W v1 was that we were trying to achieve anonymity so some clans wouldn't pick on others just assuming they could win because they were a weaker clan.
However, as games were played and the game went on for sometime it became clear there were "other ways" to figure out which House was which Clan, etc. Lifting a layer of anonymousness that was hoped for in the game design...well, v2 that will all change

Now that its been tested and the bugs worked out, I feel fairly confident I can announce this and that it'll come to fruition:

ALL CR@W Games will be fully anonymous!

You won't know what player you are facing in battle, and you won't be able to secretly look through game finder as some people did previously
in order to piece together what clan you are fighting, or which Lord / Starship you are fighting! We have gone to great lengths to preserve clans ability to hide who they are!
Now diplomacy will be the only way to find out what clan the faction you just met is!

As part of this process to make this happen, the only way we could make it work was to also make games not scored, meaning you don't have to risk any of your personal points
to participate in CR@W on games / maps you might not know as well.

Special thanks to catnipdreams, who brought us this suggestion (our very first suggestion given for v1!) to our attention for v2.
catnipdreams wrote:When the actual games are played, how do you prevent it being obvious who a Lord is? Are the Lord names actually coded and used as the player names in the games? That would be SO awesome!

Hopefully everyone enjoys this feature, as we went thru a lot of time and effort to get this done (as well as the meta map). Another Special thanks to BigWham for committing development time to this project, and groovysmurf for helping me test the feature. :)

So by making it anonymous I'm not going to have the perception that the other clan is a "weaker clan." :?

I guess it depends on your perspective ;) I was just giving an example though of one of the benefits for lower ranked clans, and benefits everyone because allows more depth in diplomacy.

So people won’t avoid TOFU this time knowing the certain doomed fate. I’m all for this.

I assume this means people will appear with a different name, but does that enable freemium players to play those games or is this still restricted to premiums only?

Im overly available next few days for questions via pm or here.
Sent out more PMs to try finalizing some of the lingering anticipated sign ups.

The early sign up date is to allow me to build the custom map based on # of sign ups. This will take a bit of time and unlike v1 you must sign up this time

Q: I understand there are no inactive Houses / factions. You mention exploring to find other worlds in the story line write up. I think I saw someone you mentioned other worlds as well. So just to be clear, ARE there other (empty) worlds besides other factions HQ’s with additional resources to be gained?

If yes, do they also start with 100 ore ready to be mined? More? Less? You collect credits for them like a Homeworld?

A: Right, there are other worlds that are EMPTY. As in, not associated with a faction. These are called “NPC Worlds” in the game. (Non playing character / factions). These don’t get defended (unless someone finds them and takes possession and has a starship present)

Regarding their available ore, you’ll have to explore to find out that answer. ;)

Re: [CR@W] Homeworld Signups [6/?]

Post by IcePack »

And then there was 6 Official Sign Ups! :)

-------

Q: Is it possible to over jump your view? Meaning, if you have sensors of tech 1, and warp of 5 on your ship, won't you potentially be traveling to an unknown area?

A: Yes, that is very possible. Think "Star Trek" when they warp into something and sometimes find themselves face to face with the big evil romulans or other baddies. Its dangerous, but allows for faster space travel.

Q: Does the map only update your "view" based on the new location (1 hex circumference where you started, and ended) or does it give you the all around 1 hex view on each point that you would have travelled through and see everything in between?

A: No, while warping you don't "see" what you are passing by. So you only get the sensor images before, and after your travels.

Q: So the map is bigger I heard, travel in v1 was a bit unruly until we had horse men. With it being a larger map, won't it be overly burdensome to travel around the universe?

A: Well thats why in v2, there are multiple ways to travel. You have your warp drive, which yes unless you had maxed out warp capabilities might take you a bit to travel around the world. But keep in mind, we also have JUMP GATES available for you to build. This allows HUGE jumps across the map, and ALL jump gates (not just yours) connect. So once a faction builds a jump gate, they see all the other jump gates on the map and can travel there very very quickly and then warp around in that area using your warp engines.
