it seems i got exactly what i wanted with AoM. either love or hate but NO indifference.
for those who love it. thanks a lot.
for those who hate it. read the instructions twice and ten give it one more chance. oh and make sure you have BOB this is probably the map where BOB helps the most.
PS: look out for Age of Realms
“In the beginning God said, the four-dimensional divergence of an antisymmetric, second rank tensor equals zero, and there was light, and it was good. And on the seventh day he rested.”- Michio Kaku
I love AOM - probably my favourite map at the moment.
The ones I can't stand are all the Australian maps for some reason. I never win on Australia, find all the neutrals on Battle for Australia annoying and all my games on Cairns seem to end up going nowhere and lasting forever.
I think I'm winning so far, but only if you add all my maps together. Sorry, DiM! But there's still time for you to pull ahead!
FWIW, although I've only played Merchants once, I really enjoyed it. It was quite a refreshing change of pace! (Although I admit that having a different icon for every resource did make the instructions slightly confusing for me the first time I read through them.)

if the whole trilogy Age of Realms gets quenched i'll surely pull ahead.
they'll probably start throwing rotten tomatoes at me

y does everyone hate valley of the kings? its a great map that is not confusing, there are just some one ways that make it challenging to fort backwards.
as for AoM, DiM i ahve decided to give u and ur map a chance, i will play one game on there and see how i feel about.
i hate also circus maximus too
Time to retire this much loved sig of mine with a new clan.
Dont get the wrong idea, im fine with big houses, open fields and room to breathe. The space map looks awful and is hard to relate to considering there has never been a conquest of space.
I thought AOM was a different map. I dont hate it but it is a bit tuffer than the others. I think I once got 48 units somehow because of the way the bonus structure works. It was cool.
I hate:
W 2.0 - too big
Valley of Kings - too difficult to get bonuses and too many loop arounds/oneways Took 20ish rounds for a 1v1 player escalating game to finish
billy07: they played like headless chickens and end up winning. its a f***ing mockery

Also, I hate world 2.1 because, its so huge, and it takes forever to kill someone off, and if your losing, it takes forever to get put out of your misery.
Seriously no offense meant but surely you can play a game without the help of greasemonkey.
Since I installed greasemonkey I have gone on a horrendous losing streak (dropping over 200 pts). I suspect it is part of my problem over studying the stats instead of playing my own game which I was doing OK before then,
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.
Any map that is too symmetrical i tend to avoid. IMHO RISK is all about manipulating a preciarious balance into your favour. Whan the map is too symmetrical it is harder to tilt the balance en it depends more on the dice then on strategy.

Are you one of those people who dont use antibiotics too??? how can you play without greasemonkey... its just not right
this is of course borne out of jealousy... if you play that well without a monkey on your back, im humbled

What is BOB first
The thing I hate about some of the maps is its not 100% clear the attack lines and some the color schemes to closely resemble the player army colors so it makes it very difficult to read...the standard map i hate when here are blue players on europe...
