Me and my sister along with the rest of the Scion of Glory are putting together a strategy guide for Conquer Club. One of the sections will be random tips from the elite.
We would like to ask you to post tips you would give to the strategically challenged here. We will cite you, and if you want to remain anonymous please say so. You don't have to write essays, just phrases will be great. Don't fret about spelling, and we thank you in advance for all the help you can render us!

If you are playing in a team game its best to attack your opponents and not your teammates. This makes winning much easier.
Also, playing team games with people you know wont deadbeat helps too.
make sure you have a plan of action with your team mates, using a messanger i.e gmail is a good one to use. Staying in contact with your team mates is also essential to a good win also.
If you eat something, wait at least 30 minutes before you go into the water. Otherwise you may cramp and drown.

Don't think about what you're going to do next until you think about what your opponent will do next. That's what risk is, anticipating yor opponent and acting against him. Locate danger and don't disregard it.

i'm certainly not one of the elite players, but from what i've learned by playing and watching is it's critical to try and keep your territories protected with your fortifications....don't spread yourself out too much. sooner or later you will get the opportunity to invade from your well fortified territories.
This is more from what I have noticed about some tournement players, but you should know a a map just as well as your opponents if you are playing in tournement based on it. There are some player who have played less then 10 games and haven't ever played on the map the tournement is about. If its a new map join the tournement but play your friends or good players on it a few times to make sure you know it well. Information is the key and the you should always have atleast as much as your opponent, that way the only times you lose are from bad luck (both on the drop and/or the dice).
Putting all your armies on your borders next to other players is a good way of making them afraid of you. They'll be much more at ease (and consequently less likely to preemptively attack you) if you have a smaller stack next to them and keep a larger stack for backup in a country behind it. This is also a good way of defending several borders with relatively few armies, put the backup so it can can attack if one of the borders is taken. An example would be Isengard in Middle Earth, you can cover 3 bordercountries from there.
