Revolutionary War map

Revolutionary War

Image

3 Countries

For some reason the place where it is supposed to show the number of armys on a territory the numbers are always at the wrong spot. If you have any tips on how to keep that from happening plz post them.

Revolutionary War is a great idea, and I can't believe there isn't already one.

Have you thought of doing one with specific Revolutionary War battles as territories?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of ... ionary_War

Otherwise, the map is too vertical.

Couple things, 1st this should be in Map Ideas thread, it'll get moved there soon. 2nd, right now there's really nothing that makes it unique except the fact that it has even fewer territories than Doodle Earth.

I like the idea but I'd prefer more territories on the map. Also, under current size rules, it's too wide. 1023 x 780 wouldn't be accepted. 800x800 is the current, 'large-map' maximum size.

As AfroDwarf said, it'll probably be moved to the Map Ideas sub-forum, soon, so don't be too surprised if you can't find this thread here, after tonight.

It has been moved here, but how about making the colonies, like the 2.1 map? Like you take over Virginia (which could have a few territories, as the others could), then biuld up to the regions. Also, how about some natural obstacles?
"Eh, whatever."

you need to zoom in on this to get an appropriate amount of territories. maybe even take a page out of gimil's book and put a tilt on it so you can fit it more easily (even though I hate doing this personally)

Maybe you can have british ships off the coast, otherwise it's just about taking over the colonies and the revolutionary war aspect seems missing. unless there's something else you had in mind. there's probably lots of ways to get the british involved.

most important thing zoom in so you can get up to the 42 territory range.

Your bg is huge and prob copyrighted. You should tilt it similar to the Portugal map. There arnt enough teritories. Its too linear.

A few things. Most notably that the bonuses are shit and that there are too few countries. Consider:

Adding england + surrounding provinces
Adding main cities
Adding port attack routes to and from england
Adding Maine but name it N. Mass.

Remove the not-yet-established state lines.

your poll options do not sufficiently capture how I feel about this map.

For starters, read the official How to make a Map post and give us some basic info on what we're looking at.

Second, never say "it's all done" unless you want to get flamed.

Third... army eggs? A conquer club first.

Sure, but they have a line across the middle. Makes 'em look like those plastic Easter eggs you stash your jelly beans in.

This is just version 1, version 2 is going to have more territories and the map size for it on my computer when I had finished version 1 was 780x640, and when I uploaded it to photobucket it resized it, so I am going to try to find a better website for the pictures

On version 2 I am adding more territories (like england, ships, the like)

Thank you senor obvious,

First: I did go there
Second: I checked back to look for what I said and nowhere in there could I find that it said "its all done"
Third: those are not army eggs, those are where the army's are supposed to go, but they put those there and the armys off screen, which is what I told u in the bottom of my message

Here are the strange lines that Oakie was talking about:

Also, when Unriggable mentioned the "not-yet-established state lines", I believe he was referring to the borders you have drawn denoting states and territory that -at the time of the war in question- were not actually founded.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing your map develop.

OK, so you did, but you didn't follow the instructions... new maps should include number of terrtories, structure bonus, etc. If you want your project to be taken seriously you should understand and work with the process, not against it.

bryguy wrote:Second: I checked back to look for what I said and nowhere in there could I find that it said "its all done"

Actually, you did, but you've edited it right out of the initial post at 5:59 this morning, four minutes before you posted this rebuttal. Clever.

bryguy wrote:Third: those are not army eggs, those are where the army's are supposed to go, but they put those there and the armys off screen, which is what I told u in the bottom of my message

It was a joke... most maps put the army counts in "army circles," some have "army ovals," some have "army trains" or "army hexagons" - yours looked like Easter eggs, which is cool. Mix it up! :)

Whatever... your map idea is good bryguy, and while you have some work ahead of you the same can be said for every other map I've seen. My projects usually start looking like absolute crap, but I have found that if I am willing to accept suggestions and criticism and not take it personally the map will progress through the foundry.

Revolutionary War map on CC = awesome.

This map in it's current state = not.

If you want to run with an American Revolution idea, actually do it. Include all the colonies at least - really cues should be taken form something like Great Lakes and split each colony into 1-3 territories - a British Navy, maybe expand out into Lousiana/the west and/or Canada as well.

Honestly, I think you should wait a while before you take a tab at creating your own map. Stick around the forums for longer than a month, actively take part in discussions about map ideas and construction and quenching, and then come back to this idea. It needs a lot more than what looks like a partially photoshopped image of the 13 colonies with either arbitrary or horrible picked continent bonuses attached.
