Calling all No Cards Players

Post by Jolly Roger »

While no card games can try the patience a little, I think they're my favorite type of game. If there are other no cards eficianados out there, post here and we can put together a tournament or if, as expected, we are a rare breed and the response is minimal, we can have a no cards magical mystery tour where the same five or six players play each other repeatedly in no cards games on each map in the CC vault.

Let me know.

I'd be up for a tournament or 'mystery tour' (<--:)) of this nature...albeit, a real time game involving no cards would probably require more time to finish than I have to give-- :(

Unfortunately, I cannot spare the time today either for a real time game but I would be interested in the future. Perhaps we could incorporate a 3 minute rule on turns by mutual agreement to make it move along a little faster and test our abilities to play under pressure much like they do in chess with their little timeclocks.

Anyway, I'll let this thread sit here for a little while longer to see if there's any more interest and we can decide how to proceed from there.

I was thinking singles - if most would prefer to play doubles, we can do that.

OK - so we've got 17 responses in total so far. That's enough for a mini-tounament of four games of four players followed by a Championship game for the four winners from the previous round.
I'M GOING TO LEAVE THIS FOR A FEW MORE DAYS TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY MORE RESPONSES. 36 PLAYERS WOULD BE BETTER SINCE GAMES WITH 6 PLAYERS ARE MUCH LESS LIKELY TO PROVIDE ANYONE WITH AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE OFF THE START. THERE WOULD ALSO BE MORE POINTS IN IT FOR THE WINNER.
In the interest of fairness, I can assign players to games in the order they posted. If the games were to begin today, the draw would be as follows:

Game 1

Jolly Roger
stdb04
alstergren
David_Wain

Game 2

spring1
ptlowe
Nikolai
eye84free

Game 3

Ronaldinho (if he wants to play singles)
Evil Semp
Gen. Garcia
UCAbears

Game 4

neildrill
jaydog
Roger Dodger
resitnecdan

Reserve: DavSav

ISSUES:

Alliances: I would suggest absolutely NO alliances. There's nothing worse than getting the upper hand in a no cards game only to have your two remaining opponents form an alliance and steal the game. Unfortunately, there's no way to enforce this rule so I don't think we can use it.

stdb04: This player may be on many players' ignore lists due to a few threads a while back. stdb04 has been getting a lot of positive feedback since then so I would like to keep stdb in - I hope no one has a problem with that?

Game Types: I'd like to have singles sequential games on the classic map with adjacent fortifications only, just to make it that much more difficult.

Real Time: A good point was raised in the thread regarding time considerations for real-time no cards games. For all those who replied to this callout, watch for more topics in the call-outs category posted by yours truly, advertising real time no cards games. I will post at least three days ahead of time and will list the start time for all time zones shown in the profiles of players who posted in this thread.

I think that's all for now. Stayed tuned.

Sorry - I figured that choosing teams based on the order of posting was about as random as you could get - or at least it was until I went and opened my big mouth and announced that that was what I was doing. All players who sign up after DavSav will be assigned to games based on an alternate formula based on order of posting.

Can I request chained forts? I like it better since it forces a decision between one back group or another, but doesn't wind up dumping half your men in corners you can't leave.

Going once, twice, sold.

Looks like a mini-tournament a four player games. The draw is as follows:

Game 1

Jolly Roger
stdb04
alstergren
David_Wain

Game 2

spring1
ptlowe
Nikolai
eye84free

Game 3

Evil Semp
Gen. Garcia
Skitzo
neildrill

Game 4

jaydog
Roger Dodger
resitnecdan
DavSav

I'll PM game numbers and passwords and we're off to the races.
