Sounds like a pretty acurate representation to me.

What's the fuss all about?

There is nothing wrong with the new Canada map. If you don't like it you should pay a little more attention to what goes on in the Foundry. It is no secret that the older maps are up for consideration to have a cartographer revamp them. If you want them to stay the same then make the effort to glance at what is going on in the foundry from time to time.

The new Canada map has been in revamp stage for at least several weeks if not longer. Don't complain when you didn't make the effort to pay attention in the first place.

Widowmakers, great job on the new map. :)

I'm protesting your protest. I took a look at the map, expecting a completely new concept after the fuss you made Kush.

Gameplay is identical.
Widow simply made the map visually stunning. Nice work!

I made a similar comment, though I hope with more and better reasoning, but nothing.

It would be nice if we could have the revamps in addition to the revamps - the "classic" view would be a nice option, plus you could probably monitor which version gets more play time.

The best way to decide, is be active in the Foundry Process. Check out the Foundry, follow some of the maps, comment, critique, etc.

It's hard to offer advice, especially if you don't frequent the forums, when there is reception like this:

I think he's been more understanding of the issue then he needs to be.

Hardly representative, I know, but the major coverage of maps is when they go live and people think "WTF? What happened to the old one?". being discouraged and saying, essentially, "we don't need to hear this, we're going with this, because this is what we like" is not going to encourage the tourists.

As I've said before, I liked the old maps better because they were nice, they were pretty bright, and most of all, they looked more like a game board than a photoshop masterpiece.

cartographers also need to give the OK to any revamps so its safe to assume that if theyre cool with it then its an improvement.

Thanks to everyone who does like the map. And I apologize to those of you who don't. I wanted it to be different and I achieved that. We need people on both sides of the fence to bring up issues. There was much controversy over this particular style.

5 different maps were entered into the revamp contest and my style version won. I actually redid the entire thing over because people were complaining about it in the foundry.

I believe Andy said it best.

the old one was somehow easier to look at when you need to think about your moves and numbers just dont seem to fit in new design if you know what I mean

yes we all should take a look at whats happening in foundry from time to time but sometimes you just dont have time or .....etc.... then we comment new maps or anything else after we see it for the first time

Stephen Harper would be proud of you! Seriously folks: Nice design your evident hard work has paid off! Congrats! Hat's off to you!

There has to be a better way than that...

The map foundry sucks.
I don't have the time it takes to slog through hundreds of pages quibbling over map minutia.

i think that the mods are renovating the forums, so it might be easier to navigate through the foundry soon enough.
