Start Locations/Colors

Post by Anarchist »

Im guessing that the reason our territories are random is to avoid the days it would take to select them. I'm suggesting that we can select a Start location which would cause the computer to randomly select whatever territories are closest, yet still available to our desired location.

#1 Say i wanted North America. I would Select Alberta for my Start location.
my territories then would spawn outward with whoever else wanted North America-Instead of having territories in Africa which will mearly be abandoned(only wish i could move the troops)

#2 Colors- id like to suggest that we can select our Color when we join the game, this way were more likely to have the same colors throughout our many games-and we will know exactly who we are

Also as this game is very similar to Risk, have you considered adding some of the same features such as generals,Forts,Castles, and maybe even attack strategy (Full assault,Suprise Attack)

thoughts?

the colours idea is a bit stupid, u can clearly see who u are, and u cant accidentally attack yourself, so that isn't a problem

not sure about the numbers thing, i dont really understand completely but that's just me being a retard

colors-is just to organise yourself a bit (remember i posted this my first day so...)

the numbers are just the 2 differant ideas

#1 is setting a start location,to act as a homing beacon to get your troops randomly placed as close to that territory as possible-(option)

You have some ok suggestions but they both have been suggested before. Take a look at the sticky thread at the top of this forum. On Lacks To-Do list are Choose Army Color at Start and Initial Troop Deployment.

how about your countries are random but you can choose how you fortify them?

this could take a while so maybe change it a little so that you can state where you are trying to go after, so if you are going after north america the computer will put 5 guys in each n america country and only 1 in asian countries.

i dont know if i like it but its an idea

Thank You!!!!!

if two ppl choose the same country the nearest territories would be split between them, they are then forced to fight over it-or move on
think of it as a homing beacon if your castle is in Moscow,i dont think you want your troops in england and jamaica.

Sorry, next time ill check the to do list!

Looking through the To Do list a second time

there is nothing there regarding the start location issue

I like the fortify idea
to start randomly with only one unit at each territory, then place them in round 1- only problem is whoever places last has a major advantage, also what if they miss their turn?

i suggest again setting your spawn point when you join a game and then have the computer randomly select whatever is closest

deployment idea wouldn't really work... its not rt usually so u can't decide to do something like that really. also every1 would want either oz or SA and then it would end up bein that the clever ones would choose east africa or somethin to group their armies and then take oz. it would b pointless. i think a new system where u can change people's colours on ur screen would b gd although it could b confusin as people refer to players by colour.... maybe hav the original colour written next to the name? anyway i don't c the need for this but its just for those who do...

Did we get a "Wizard of Oz" map, or is oz just an abbreviation for Australia?

Thats funny... I looked at the to-do list and found a couple related threads on there already.

Change Army Randomization *Rejected*
Initial Troop Deployment *Pending*
