? about a technique used when down to 2 in a FS w/no dbl trn

Post by maniacmath17 »

In game 32874 my opponent was last to play round 36, and he left no protection on any of his continent boarders.

then as soon as i started my turn and was about to break his continents, he started his turn and recieved the bonuses for the continents.

to me, this seems to defeat the purpose of having free style with no double turns, if you can just recieve the reinforcements anyways.

Is this a common strategy, or is this type of manuver frowned upon?

In a freestyle game, this strategy is fine...if you can pull it off...

Timing is very important in a freestyle game whether it is dbl turns or no dbl turns...

The best advice I can give you is...play sequential...it eliminates all problems like this!!

this is very unusual unless u r playin a freestyle real time. the strategy is not frowned uppon as it is hard to b successful in using it and in real time everyone can do it. i hav deliberately used this tactic before in real time. u take asia and then just get that nice big bonus. all i can suggest is that in real time u do not end ur turn before everyone else so u can take part of their continent at the end of a round not at the start if that makes sense

The best protection against that sort of move is to wait several hours before taking your turn and attacking quickly.

Or if you really want to get technical find out what time zone they live in by checking their play times and deliberately wait until they're asleep... but caring that much is pretty sad.

Ha! I've done that. But only when it looked like I wasn't going to win!

That I could be driven to such tactics was one reason I stopped playing real-time games.

(Also, the 'oops' icon says 'embarassed' as its tooltip -- but it's really spelled 'embarrassed')
