USApocalypse

Post by Pedronicus »

I'm playing my first game of this map.

and those radioactive areas lead to a missed go / x2 muliplier just to get to put some pieces on the board if you on one of 'em.

Is the radioactive area a good idea or a bad idea?

these games could last for ages with this tactic being employed

i love the idea, its different from all other maps and adds some new strategy to the game. :D
its still annoying as hell when you start with 2 and your opponent doesnt tho.

It's cool.
Especially in team-games, there are more possibilties and strategies.

Moreover, the names of the states are very interested. My favorite is "Not Mexico".

I know. I wanted to play a game of terminator- and the USApocalypse map looked more like a barren wasteland in which to kill.

I wanted the map to be new to everyone (But looking back - philberts played it before and won a couple of times :? )

I've also played recently the Ireland map.

Then i made a six player, classic, esc. sequential 1 fort game, and Zawbanjito (or however he spells it) joined and said that he was glad someone out there is still keeping the old school map going as there are so many options now.

2006-08-29 20:31:33 - Stoney229 receives -2 armies for holding irradiated territory
2006-08-29 20:31:33 - Stoney229 receives 1 armies for holding a radiation nexus
2006-08-29 20:31:33 - Stoney229 receives 3 armies for 7 territories

http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=62563

this is the link to the game

So where is the nexus on the USApocalypse map and why did he get 3 reinforcements?

Thanks

He got 3 because that's the minimum territory bonus, look at what he actually deployed afterwards when radiation loss was subtracted.

2006-08-29 10:38:05 - Stoney229 deployed 2 armies on Old New Jersey

I don't like this map, but I still play it! The radioactive bit definitely adds something, usually -1 army to me...

I think the question is why did it subtract 2 and then add 1 for a so-called "radiation nexus." what's that? Also my understanding of the map's key is that it's never supposed to penalize any more than 1 army - in this case it said it penalized me 2.

theres a similar set up in the tamriel map with embassies if you hold an entire continent then if you control the country with the flag the same color as the continent you get an xtra 2 armies which is a lot considering tis only one more country

First time my friends and i decided to try this game out, we made the mistake of trying out "no cards" bonus also. Needless to say, that game went on for some time :)

My favorite is Cuba (Florida) even though it's not part of the playable map

Thats just because of the way Jota had to set up the program to get it to add the right armies. You owned 2 irridated countries and your bonus because of that is supposed to be -1.

The map sees the 2 irridated countries and subtracts 2, then gives you +1 for the nexus which is there so your net loss is only one army.

If you own 3 irridated countries it will say -3 for irridated territory and then +3 for the nexus for a net of 0 armies.

It seems like it would be pretty similar to most other no card games really. The irridated territories subtract 1, but the continents are all roughly 1 more than they would be in a normal map to compensate for that.

The only map to worry about playing no cards with is Circus Maximus (well that and a 42 person Battle Royale)

I suspected such was the case , but I wasn't sure. Thank you very much for your answer!

You're welcome. I know its confusing since the whole idea of the nexus is not spelled out in the map itself. Whats even more confusing is how Jota had the ability to come up with such a system and make it work!
