Balsiefen's first sketch map.

Telvania's neat map-bolder colours

Telvania's neat map-dulled down colours

101 territories
15 Kingdoms
16 Continents

The map uses features which are not currently installed on CC but i am hoping to push 'em through.

Each player starts with one kingdom of four territories (those outlined in a coloured boarder on the sketch or have a background flag in neat). They are then given a unique mission for each faction (for instance england's might be to conquer britain and france, and elimenate the kingdoms of france and denmark) The kingdom that eliminates all opponents or completes its mission first wins.-if this proves to be impossable we may make it without. (though i hope not)

Capitals will have units deployed on them each turn, i'm not yet sure about other territs.

Kingdoms

England

Mercia

One the gripes about our current "Europe" map...is that it has North Africa and the Near East/Middle East. Just letting you know. :)

While I disagree with his similar post in British Isles, I agree here. The continent colors need to be more prominent. You could water mark in the flags if you want, but right now it burns my eyes.

He means that you should fill the countries with a single colour for each continent so it is easy to look at and remove the pictures or symbols.I agree with cena because at the moment your sketch is easier to read than your neat copy.

Thing is the places with coats of arms, are different to the territories filled with plain colours. So the coats of arms are there to differentiate between the territories.

Try a version removing the brown land background or making it white. see how that looks.

Are those territories from a game or something, say, Medieval Total War?

For my sources i used this map set in 1097 and also the possibly less accurate Medieval total war and medieval 2 total war. being set around 1080 For gameplay reasons i had to make several compromises between tha maps, splitting milan as its own faction and making the HRE smaller (it was never really more than a rough agreement of peetty kingdoms so the emperor would never have true power over all the HRE. I also had to make venitian territories much larger as their coastal cities, despite being powerfull and important, are too small to make territories of. The turkish and byzantine empires (due to all my scources differing wildly over how much each control with the texas map showing the turks having all of turkey, med 1 showing the byzantines holding most of turkey and med 2 showing a rough balence in between) have been resized to best suit playability.

Finally qwert, all my scources show no serbian empire any larger than what i have it as. Its likely that my map is set before its rise or after its fall.

Thanks that could be useful. Try to get dates for the maps though. (around 1080 is best)

Althought this is yet another Europe map who can complain?
Europe is such a entresting continent that there not really repeating game play.
I love the beginning idea... if it was possible I would like it better if you could choose your kingdom, and I think there should be a higher neutral count on the capital of the neutral kingdoms.

That game is one of the only things I do beyond CC Great game, I kind of guest you had played due to the factions.

The "kingdoms" expansion pack is also very good.

I LOVE THIS MAP!

some ideas

Post by sd031091 »

this looks like a well thought out map. I have a few ideas to possibly expand gameplay. First of all, there's the color issue. I suggest much lighter inside borders and thicker outside borders for countries. That way you could leave the flags (or make them a bit fainter) and still have the countries well defined. Also I think Venice should be able to bombard Constantinople (which Crusade was that again? 4?) Lastly I think there should be more sea routes. Other than that, I'm stumped. You seem to have it all there already.

oh and don't forget that some factions did crusades against the moors!

And some places in Spain should also be able to bombard the moors (the reqonquista!)

and last but not least it should be 1way attack not bombard, in the crusades they kept all the places after conquer.
