Flying map

Post by kayakninja »

Hey, I'm thinking of making a map that looks a lot like the normal RISK map, but with airports, so that there are places from which you can attack any other country with an airport. Let me know what you think. I'll have to look up the major airports, but I think it has potential to be a great map.

I think it would be better if you take that idea but don't just lay it on top of the classic map. Perhaps you can restructure it or just use a part of the world, so something to that effect, but it seems like having the same map with a few more borders wouldn't be much fun.

I agree with sully, that would only make it next to impossible to hold any continent

Why not simply have every territrory be able to attack every other one?

Yeah, I would definately have to change the structure of the map some. It would probably end up sort of like the "Space" map, with wormholes and warp gates. I'm not quite sure what it's going to look like, but I have a couple of ideas.
First of all, it might be good to take out the land bridges. Between Brazil and North Africa, for example. That way, there are three sections that are seperate from each other except by airports, which might make it more interesting.
An alternate idea to airports is harbors; have a harbor in a couple of big trading places that connect across the Atlantic and some more that go across the Pacific. This would keep the airports from becoming too powerful.
If you have any more ideas or feedback, please let me know. This could be a great map, but it'll be pretty easy to ruin.

"Why not have every country be able to attack every other one?"

hmm... That might be a good idea. It would be really hard to hold continents, though. Every place would have to be fortified, and that might add a different level of strategy, but it also might be incredibly annoying. I'll look into that and see how it goes.[/quote]

The continents would have to be tiny. I would love to see a map like that though. If someone creates it they should give it a spacey feel.

What are you talking about? Its the worst idea I ever see here in CC. You cant block players as an strategy, from one single territory you can attack all countries from another player, so the escalating games would really be reduced to find best hour to cash... no possibilities of hold a continent in no cards games... and imagine how many countries you would have to defend... one set in a flat rate game and your 5 continents are broken, game would be slow and boring... Argh, terrible idea.
